• We got to the park on 5/31 and at that time had to add the photos at the counter. On 6/3 sure enough they started to tell people it was happening by itself. All the pics uploaded correctly with no troubles! I thinking great. I was not able to access them on the phone though. Great system!

• We loved this during the last days of our trip. What I don’t understand is that Disney didn’t communicatie about this at all. They should have doen so through the ‘My Disney Experience’ app but I didn’t see Anthony. Without this blog entry I would,’t have known about it.

• Does Magic Maker show up on the Disney Experience mobile app? I purchased Magic Maker last week and it shows up when I log into Disney Experience on my laptop but doesn’t show up on my phone.

  • I took a brief look at the app and don’t see access to it either. It may just be something you can only access via a computer. Unless someone else knows different.

    • I went to a photo place at AK to get one of my free EPCOT photos. I asked the girl helping me about that. I cannot recall exactly what she said, but there was something being used by the PP site that made it unusable or extremely difficult for the phone. I want to say she said something about flash, but do not quote me (and I am not tech savvy enough to know if what she said actually make tech sense).

• The long range readers were working last November. They worked great, although we didn’t know at the time they were adding to our MDE account. A week or so after a weekend trip I found dozens of ride photos on our account. We didn’t have MM either. Not sure how the system will keep track of who does and does not have MM on their MDE, have a feeling in the end everyone will get the photos. In a dollars and cents standpoint they would surely make more money by people finding a ride photo of their family that they just cant live without.

  • We expreienced the same thing in January of this year. We were at Magic Kingdom for one day only before our cruise. We didn’t plan to get a photo package. I think we had one photo taken with Chip and Dale where we scanned our magic bands. When I got home I received an email saying my photos were ready to view. I was really surprised that in addition to the one Chip and Dale picture, there were pictures of my family on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin! I couldn’t figure out how they did that!

    • Yeah…I’ve heard they’ve been testing the system for a few months…appears that would be true in both of your cases.

    • Very creepy, to be a test subject and not be informed.

      I like this new no counter visit option; but I think I would be paranoid about it not working. Just too many glitches with this whole system.

• Not clear. Is it reading the band while you are on the ride to know which picture to associate with which rider?

  • I would believe that would be how it works.

• So if Memory Maker is associated with my account and my husband rides Buzz Lightyear with our son (while wearing their Magic Bands) will their ride photo be associated to our Memory Maker account or do I need to always ride with them? Or have them record their picture number? 🙂

  • In addition, wondering about other members of my group. We have 2 rooms but I am holding the MM so wondering about the other part of my group in the other room, in addition to the others in my room.
    Interesting though and sounds like it will be a better process.

    • According to Disney, Memory Maker guests who have active Friends and Family connections in their My Disney Experience account will be able to view all attraction photos for the Family and Friends, including those captured automatically. However, it appears that at this time, only the guest with the active Memory Maker will be able to view the photos.

      I can say this is true that if you are linked with your Friends and Family and allow for sharing of photos, that you will be able to see their images, in addition to your own. I’m linked with a friend currently and both my images and hers are showing up on my My Disney Experience page. (Though my linked photos are only PhotoPass photos, not attractions photos.)

      The key appears to be the fact that you’ll need to be linked and able to share photos.

  • If the memory maker is linked to your room reservation that is linked to your MDE account any one that is linked to that reservation and account can use the memory maker. Did This Three Weeks Ago with three roomseparate on one reservation.

• I’m not a fan of the tracking aspect of the Magic Band. I have placed them in a RFID blocking wallet/pocket so all my movements through the park aren’t tracked.

  So if I do this, how can I take advantage of this linking of the photos to my memory maker package? Can I just stop by the counter? or just expose my magic bands when I get on the ride?

  • I would just expose your MagicBand when you get on the ride, but that’s just me. Otherwise, you can still stop by the counter, if you wish.

  • So, your photos with Memory Maker will be loaded into your My Disney Experience account, which can be found at: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/ There will be a drop down menu in the upper right hand corner where you will find PhotoPass. Or you can visit the PhotoPass site at: https://mydisneyphotopass.disney.go.com/ and log in that way.

• Used it today at test track !! Loved it.

  • Yep…went into full effect on June 3rd.

• So what happens if the photo doesn’t show up in My Disney Experience account? And I don’t find out until late that night when I’m back at my resort or even the next day?

  • Having a long love hate relationship with Memory Maker and attraction rides, I’ll pass along advice a photopass cast member shared with me in December 2013. Write the number of your photo down in a smartphone. Dosney normally holds photos for 2 days on their servers, and you can go to a photopass/memory maker shop in the parks and try to add them there. It is important to have the photo number and the date of the photo.

    • You can also take a picture of the photo with the number at the end of the ride. 🙂

    • Disney says that photos COULD potentially take up to 24 hours to become viewable in My Disney Experience. If you don’t see the photos, you are supposed to contact the Disney PhotPass Guest Support team at (407) 560-4300. However, I would say, just to make sure, either write down the number or take a photo of the number, just to make sure.

    • So in theory I could add ride photos of my extended family to my Memory Maker account? I’m basically trying to figure out how my family of 10 spread across 3 reservations can utilize only 1 Memory Maker account.

    • Sarah…from my own personal experience, yes. It could be done, I believe.

      In my own personal instance, there were three different sets of people, in three different rooms, and we were all there around the same time. We are tied together in the My Disney Experience account system and I can see all three different groups’ photos, because we are all linked to see each others photos. My friends can choose to order my photos and I can choose to order some of theirs, if I would like. Same with Memory Maker. They can add my photos, even though I didn’t purchase Memory Maker, but they had it.

• So this means that if you are wearing a magic band then Disney can track your location within the radius of one “thrill ride attraction seat” from a distance.

  I’m not usually the tin foil hat guy, but *shiver*.

• What about old photopass+ users? I still have a credit unused…

  • Memory Maker replaced PhotoPass+ back in December, however, if you still have a credit, you can still use the credit towards PhotoPass+ instead, if you prefer. Or you can choose to transfer it to become Memory Maker. The main differences is that with Memory Maker, all the photos are digital downloads, where as with PhotoPass+, you will be able to get the CD instead sent to your home. Also, I believe with PhotoPass+, you get a CD of stock images sent to you as well, that you do not get with Memory Maker. (Those are the differences in a nutshell). So, it just depends on what you’d rather have. 🙂

    • I just went through this with the PhotoPass team. The other difference is that you used to get the photo package they take at some meals (Tusker House, 1900 Park Fare, Hoop Dee Doo). Now, the photos are just added to your Memory Maker account.

  • Correct. It should read the MagicBand bracelet and know that you have purchased Memory Maker, and thus will add the photos to your My Disney Experience account.

    • I was just there last week, 6/31/14, and that is not the case. We did have the magic bands and Memory Maker. You still need to stop after the rides and get a card. If you do not, you have to call 407-560-1039 and they can find and link all your ride pictures to your account, but it is a bit of a process, as I just experienced tonight 🙂
