The Animation Station Coming to Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Do you remember back in the day when you used to be able to learn how to draw some of your favorite Disney characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Well, soon Guests will be able to do something very similar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

This summer, when Rafiki’s Planet Watch reopens, in the Conservation Station, Guests will be able to experience a brand-new drawing experience themed around The Lion King.  During this instructor-led animation class, you’ll learn how to draw some of your favorite characters from the film like Simba, Zazu, Pumbaa, Timon and more. And as with the previous iteration, each session will be different.

For those who would like to experience The Animation Station, you will be able to make a Disney FastPass+ reservation.

In addition to experiencing The Animation Station at Conservation Station, Guests will once again be able to visit the Affection Section and take a ride on the Wildlife Express Train. During your visit to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of medical procedures at the veterinary treatment window, learn how animal care experts prepare meals for and care for the park’s animal residents and more.

Rafiki’s Planet Watch reopens officially on July 11.

  • I’m going to Animal Kingdom in a few days, and I was wondering if anyone has seen Lion King merchandise there? If so, can you please tell me which store/stand and what kind of merchandise? And do they have things relating to The Lion King on Broadway? Thanks!

  • Wow, such an awesome place is this, people always love these type of animated places. I’m glad Disney listened and is not only keeping it open but also adding a special experience to it. Keep it up!

  • My kids have always loved Rafiki’s! It’s not my personal favorite, but it’s a great place to sit and cool down while they get to enjoy some wildlife up close and learn something at the same time. I’m glad Disney listened and is not only keeping it open but also adding a special experience to it.

  • I really like this idea.

  • When can we fast pass this? Going in August!

    • I just made a fastpass for it this morning (6/11/19) We will also be there in mid-late August!
