Islands of Adventure celebrated its 25th anniversary today with Derek looking at the past and present attractions in the park. Today I am looking at your top-rated attractions and restaurants based on TouringPlans reader’s reviews! So grab an Isla Nublar IPA and Green Eggs & Ham Tots, grab a spot in Toon Lagoon by the water, and let us talk about the top offerings at Islands of Adventure.

Top Attractions

Islands of Adventure is a ride fan’s heaven with Orlando’s best rollercoasters, thrill rides, and water rides. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man opened with the park and is considered a landmark ride that redefined what a modern dark ride could be. Seuss Landing is full of family attractions and complex theming and Toon Lagoon has the best raft ride in Florida – Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges.

The top three attractions in Islands of Adventure are based on guest ratings through TouringPlans based on a one out of five scale. They are among the best in Orlando and worth the time required to see them, all are a must-see. Arguably the best attraction in Orlando, ⭐️ Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motor Bike Adventure receives a 4.81 rating from readers. Hagrid features unique ride vehicles and multiple thrilling launches to a backward moment and vertical drop, it is an incredible ride and well worth the title of best in the park. Some guests missed the thrills of the Dragon Challenge when it was removed for the tamer Hagrid. Thankfully Universal had a swift new concept ready for Jurassic Park, the ⭐️ Jurassic World VelociCoaster. Our users rate this high-speed coaster a 4.73. ⭐️ Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is an all-time great hybrid motion simulator and dark ride through the halls and grounds of Hogwarts Castle. Nearly 14 years old, this ride gets a 4.36 rating.

Islands of Adventure does lack in one major way: shows. The two largest theaters for shows sit empty, the special effects show Poseidon’s Fury is closed, and there are no indoor theater attractions. That being said, two of Universal’s best shows are seasonal offerings. The ⭐️ Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle (rating 4.62) and  ⭐️ Grinchmas Wholiday Spectacular (rating 4.52) shows rate highly among guests – Grinchmas is a half-hour comedic musical retelling of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle is a projection-mapped light show with some fireworks with scenes from the movies centered around Christmas.

Of the small show offerings offered throughout the year, Raptor Encounter rates the highest at 4.3 out of 5. This fan-favorite dinosaur meet and greet has guests coming face-to-face with a “real, live Raptor” (the only thing real and live is the actor in the suit).

Top Dining

Islands of Adventure dining is a story of two halves – eat on the right side of the park and Jurassic Park and avoid the left side of the park (Toon Lagoon and Marvel Super Hero Island). The top quick service meal in the park is ⭐️ Croissant Moon with a thumbs up of 96%. Located in the Port of Entry, this breakfast spot is a quick hop from the park entrance before riding VelociCoaster. Located next door in Seuss Landing is the second most popular quick-service restaurant, ⭐️ Green Eggs and Ham with 92% approval. Themed to the eponymous Dr. Seuss book starring Sam I Am, this outdoor restaurant serves up totcho dishes (tater tots nachos) like pizza tots, green egg and ham tots, and Who Hash. The top-rated full-service restaurant in Islands of Adventure is the iconic ⭐️ Mythos with 92% approval rating. Located in Lost Continent, Mythos’ menu is full of Mediterranean inspiration.
