Mickey Check Meals Change to Disney Check Meals

Have you heard of the Mickey Check program? It was introduced about 5 years ago and it was created to make it easier to identify nutritious choices for the kiddos. In order to receive the Mickey Check, kids’ meals had to have met Disney Nutrition Guidelines, which align to the U. S. Dietary Guidelines for Americans. These choices have a focus of contributing to a nutritious diet, encouraging kid appropriate portions and limiting nutrients to avoid things like sodium, sugar, saturated fat, trans fat.

Well, the Mickey Check program has officially changed names and it will now be known as Disney Check. They will still be found on kid’s menus at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.

The Disney Check meals must include at least three of the following food groups: fruits and vegetables; low-fat dairy; whole grains; or lean protein, beans, eggs and nuts. In addition, to meet these guidelines, Disney Check meals must be ordered with no substitutions.

It’s a great program and a wonderful way to make sure your child (or even you) are eating healthy while touring the theme parks.

  • Just what Disney Parks like Disneyland and Walt Disney World need – more things with the word Disney in their name! 🙂
