Disney Cruise Line in a Jiffy: What is the Rainforest Room?

If you sail on Disney Cruise Line, and you love relaxation, you should definitely know about the Rainforest Room. Hot tubs abound on the regular pool deck, but the Rainforest Room is where you’ll find the aromatherapy showers, steam rooms, heated loungers, and on some ships even more. The Rainforest Room is an upcharge experience and access is limited, so let’s talk about what you’ll find there.

The Rainforest Room on each class of ships is a little different, although it’s part of the Senses Spa on each ship. On the Magic and Wonder, the Rainforest Room is an entirely interior space. You’ll find a lovely artwork on the ceiling that brings home the feel of the space. The Rainforest Room on the Magic and Wonder includes showers, heated tile loungers, and steam rooms. Since it’s a closed room with adjoining steam rooms, the air here tends to be warm and a bit humid. It’s not uncommon to find towel animals relaxing in the room as well. The picture below was taken from one of the heated loungers, looking towards the door.

On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the Rainforest Room is a larger space that’s divided into different areas. One area holds the showers and steam rooms, along with a sauna. The heated loungers are set in an arc in an adjoining room; they face a third space with two hot tubs. Both the loungers and hot tubs have a view through full-length windows out the side of the ship. The picture below was taken from a lounger (have you guessed where I love to spend my time?) looking into and through the hot tub room. On a nice day, you might find the windows open and a nice breeze.

As you might expect, the Rainforest Room on the Wish class ships is fancier yet. On the Wish and her sisters, you’ll find an ice room added to the temperature lineup. There’s an outdoor extension with several hot tubs and relaxation seating. And in addition to the heated tile loungers, there are hanging loungers above individual pools.

No matter which ship you’re on, you’ll find standard spa elements in these rooms like towels, robes, and water. Relaxing spa music does a great job of setting the atmosphere to close your eyes and focus on … nothing at all.

To gain access to the Rainforest Room on any Disney ship, you’ll need either a length of cruise pass or a day pass. Length of cruise passes can be booked in advance once your cruise is paid in full and your booking window is open. The price depends on the ship, length of sailing, and other factors. Day passes may or may not be available during your sailing, depending on the day’s itinerary and other factors.

Is it worth it? The pass costs enough that if you won’t be able to make a few visits,  you might not feel it’s worth the price. And the Rooms can get crowded enough that seating on the loungers is hard to come by. If your schedule isn’t flexible enough to allow you to visit when everyone else isn’t then you might not find it as relaxing as it’s supposed to be. But personally, this is one of my favorite things to do on any Disney ship.
