Dole Whip vs. Citrus Swirl Showdown + Video
There are two Disney treats that, up until last month, I had never tried: The Dole Whip and the Citrus Swirl.
I know, I know…it’s shameful. I have no excuse.
I thought it was about time I finally remedy the situation, so I did! In fact, I took these two delectable rivals and created this sweet showdown for you.
Which dessert would you choose as ruler of them all? Do you have suggestions for future snack showdowns? Leave them in the comments!
Dole Whip float cannot be beat! So glad you tried it and enjoyed it. I’m a sucker for pineapple treats as well.
Adam,
As you can tell from the video, it was amazing. I’m sold. I want another. I’m thinking about it now and am counting down the days until that float is in my possession once again. So good!

My favourite thing, which I’m not sure there’s anywhere left on property that still serves it this way, was to have them swirl the citrus part of the citrus swirl and the pineapple together. So good! So sad… :p I don’t think I care for the vanilla citrus blend of the citrus swirl, but just the orange part is lovely. 🙂
Gillian,
That would have been a fun combination to try! I bet it would have tasted delicious!

This Texas girl calls that liquid at the bottom Orange Coke! ALL soda /pop is COKE in Texas!
Wait, so if pop is coke and orange pop is orange coke…
What do you call coke?! How do you order a soft drink from a menu?
I need answers Susan. Help a Minnesota girl out! My head is spinning!

Dole Whip hands down!!
If you have a Sweet Frog near you, they currently have the Dole Whip flavor! It is truly a dole whip (not in float variety). Pineapple is definitely my favorite.
Dole whip all the way! I love them so much I bought a soft serve ice cream maker and the mix they use in the parks and routinely make them at home.
Nick,
I need you to educate me on this life hack. I am SEVERELY missing out!

If you have a dairy allergy, then the Dole Whip (as found at Aloha Isle) is dairy-free. Citrus Swirl is not. And other Dole Whip locations may have cross-contamination issues with vanilla soft serve, if they don’t have a dedicated machine for the pineapple one. Interesting info at http://www.allergyfreemouse.com/2017/03/dole-whip-dairy-free-and-available-in-many-places/ .
Sarah,
I was very happy to see the Dole Whip was dairy-free, so I made sure to include that in my voice-over. Good info to point out regarding cross-contamination!

I definitely noticed your comment in the video (thanks!). Just thought I’d help emphasize it here, in case someone didn’t catch it or (gasp!) didn’t watch your video. I love the Dole Whip, never tried the other – and don’t do floats.
Thank you for doing so…and for the link!
They’re both great, but if I could only have one, I’d probably get a Citrus Swirl.
I suggest a six-way battle royale among the mini desserts at the Brown Derby! The grapefruit cake is the most well known–but is it the champion?
Banjoman,
This. Sounds. EPIC.
The one dessert to rule them all. *cue Lord of the Rings music*
I need to make this happen.

I’m like you were, haven’t tried either one. And no particular urge to.
Len,
I really wasn’t curious about either of them for the longest time. It wasn’t until a few of you (our subscribers) recommended them as your favorite treat that I thought to film this video. As you can tell, I’m sure glad I did!

Citrus swirl all the way!!
Dole whip wins everytime! I say soda instead of pop!
This was great! My favorite video yet!!!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Beth! Which treat is your favorite?
– Angela
Haven’t tried Citrus Swirl, but the Dole Whip is pretty darn good!
Dan,
The Citrus Swirl was good, but I am a total Dole Whip convert. So delicious!
