The Magic, The Memories, and Merch! April 2015 Photo Report of the Disney Outlet Store

MMM positiveThe end of April is upon us, and thus comes the second – yes, second – Outlet Report of the month. That’s right, on April 1st, when you were wondering whether or not the Motorola selfie stick was real or if Olaf was truly replacing Stitch’s Greatest Escape, we gassed up the Merch Mobile and headed down State Road 535 to cover a non-Disney owned Outlet Store (don’t worry, we grabbed an extra bottle of Xanax for the road rage.)

Since that day a lot has happened. The BOATHOUSE opened at Downtown Disney, offering a S’mores Baked Alaska that is surely going to be near the top of our next article spotlighting outrageous eats at Walt Disney World. TouringPlans’s own Daisy Lauren did her must-read Best Week Ever from Tokyo Disneyland Resort (you’ve got to see the picture of the Chandu Tail from Tokyo Disney Sea.) And one crazy person even wrote about all the special events that WON’T be coming to Orlando anytime soon (although who wouldn’t want to go to A Celebration of Twister?!)

Enough jibber jabber! Who is ready to hit the Outlets? Remember that clicking on any picture will open a full size version of it (don’t say we didn’t warn you).

Our first item is one I had speculated we could be seeing after the Mickey Mouse kitchen clock magnet made its way to the Outlet last month. This Stand-By Entrance timer magnet was marked down to $3.99. I’m pretty shocked to see this already because I don’t think it came out that long ago and it is a very clever idea. I guess people just want to use the FP+ of the kitchen (AKA the microwave.)

IMG_6627_2
The timer can only hold times up to 99 minutes and 59 seconds, so it is definitely not the Anna and Elsa Timer Magnet which goes up to six hours.

You’ve heard of the adage, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me? It actually played out this week at the Outlets. I saw this awesome Dale* shirt and quickly put it in my shopping cart. Talk about popping out, it looks great! Originally $21.95, it was marked down to $9.99.

IMG_6637

But then I thought, Wait a second…. and decided to check out the back of the shirt (which I naively assumed would be blank.)

IMG_6638_2

You almost got me again Disney!

*(I had to Google which one was Chip and which one is Dale, and I’m sure I’ll have to Google it again the next time too.)

Next up was some Indiana Jones merchandise from DHS. Love the Raiders shirt. Both originally $24.95, now $12.99

IMG_6521_2
I was considering getting the one on the left when the boss of the house makes me do yard work.

Indiana Jones messenger bag. Originally $34.95, now $14.99. Not sure who the ideal demographic was for this. Kids don’t use messenger bags and the adults that would probably would want a much better looking one.

IMG_6523

Speaking of DHS, a bunch of Tower of Terror merch arrived, joining the bells from last month. Like the Jones shirts, these were originally $24.95 marked down to $12.99.

IMG_6526

IMG_6525

Photo frame originally $11.95, now $5.99

IMG_6528

I love these magnets. I had bought a Snow White themed “Forest Friends Cleaning Company” one last year during a stay at The Contemporary. Originally $4.95, these were now $1.99. Bought both.

IMG_6532_2

Whoops, here’s another Tower of Terror shirt. Have to say I’m not a big fan of the skeleton bellhop.

IMG_6539

Here is BOHEMIAN MINNIE, whatever that means. Where do we think this was originally sold? Did Disney hold a Renaissance Faire this year and I missed the media invite?

IMG_6629_2

Valentine’s Day Duffy. Not too many people in the world have talked more smack about Duffy, but just keep in mind that This Picture was taken inside my house.

IMG_6544_2
If every Kiss begins with Kay, I would imagine every getting Dumped begins with Duffy.

Snow White joined the other Tsum Tsums, and they finally had all seven dwarfs. Although I have a hard time telling them apart other than Dopey and Doc. I’m assuming this was Sleepy, but it could be Bashful.

IMG_6615

IMG_6616

You know how much I love Disney Tagalongs, so while I love seeing more show up at the Outlets, it also means they may not be selling well and we won’t be getting new ones. Let’s hope that’s not the case (and c’mon  Jiminy Cricket and Pascal to the Outlets!!)

IMG_6541

March was St. Patrick’s Day, and here’s your Irish Mickey antennae topper.

IMG_6630

And speaking of Luck O’ the Irish, here’s some Minnie Plush Pens. Forget the fact that they were originally $7.99 (whaaaaaat?!) why are they “Minnie” instead of “Mickey”? I would also think you could sell these at Flower and Garden as Mickey Topiary Pens. THAT IDEA’S FOR FREE DISNEY, THE REST YOU PAY FOR. SEND CONTRACT TO DEREK@TOURINGPLANS..COM

IMG_6619_2

Let’s dial the holiday calendar even further back and check out Christmas. Here is possibly both the best and worst Mickey Mouse Christmas ornaments.

IMG_6634_2

A cute Minnie Mouse one.

IMG_6632_2

Rizzo the Rat, both with head and without. I saw this one earlier in the year at the 25 Days Of Christmas store at Downtown Disney.

IMG_6635

I barely understand why people like the weirdly themed Mickey Ears hats, but I don’t get the Mickey Ears ornaments at all. This Lady & the Tramp one is two sides of the same ornament. Yech.

IMG_6633_2

And here is the Toy Story Alien version.

IMG_6607_2

Now this ornament set is something that could be on my tree. This may be one of the 20 items or so in the store that is not discounted. Original sticker was $34.95 and there was no reduced sticker on box.

IMG_6597

IMG_6596

Kilimanjaro Safaris shirt and stuff next to it. Sometimes it’s better not to ask questions.

IMG_6613

Speaking of Animal Kingdom, these beach towels were $9.99. We’ve seen this design on some products at the Outlets previously, including mugs.

IMG_6531

Here it is sprawled out on my living room floor. I’m going to start up a Patreon account and one of the reward levels will be a picture of me laying on the towel (not only NSFW, Not Safe For Anywhere.)

AKTOWERL

We’re coming up to the 60th Anniversary of Disneyland, and here’s a reminder of an anniversary that literally no one cared about, Disney’s Hollywood Studios 25th. I lit a candle for Matt Hochberg.

IMG_6620_2

Here is the medal and pin set from the DHS 25th Anniversary.

IMG_6636_2

Speaking of pins, a whole bunch arrived with runDisney.

IMG_6504_2

As a two time runDisney medal winner, I know the blood, sweat, and tears it takes to complete a runDisney race. Actually there’s very little blood, just a lot of sweat and even more tears (at least in my case.)  So it’s much easier to buy these pins and just tell people you ran it.

IMG_6505_2

LOVE these SpectroMagic pins and actually bought one at full price ($19.95) because it was one of my girlfriend’s favorite shows. These pins have been reduced to $8.99. When are we going to get the Pieces Of The Sorcerer’s Hat pins?!!

IMG_6499_2

Now that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has been officially renamed, I imagine we’ll see a trickle of some of the old name merchandise make its way to the Outlets, starting with these pins.

IMG_6501

I would love to see a book one day just looking at the Jessica Rabbit merchandise that Disney has made. There’s nothing else like it. This hat originally $19.95, now $4.99.

IMG_6516

Epcot fanboys, get your heart medication ready! Originally $19.95, now $4.99

IMG_6518

Speaking of Epcot, this Passport set is one of those rare items that is discounted (most of the full price items are also food related, like Chip & Dale snacks.) I bought it though because it looks neat.

IMG_6514_2

IMG_6515_2

This Cars shirt is also awesome.

IMG_6506_2

These #DisneySide shirts aren’t that old and have arrived at the Outlet. Unlike the Stand-By Entrance magnet above, this one’s not hard to see why. Originally $21.95, now $9.99

IMG_6509_2

IMG_6508_2

Here’s a bunch of next level bananas Expedition Everest shirts featuring the cartoon version of Yeti. What I don’t quite understand is that the shirts are made for really small kids. Are they even tall enough to ride the attraction? Originally $24.95, now $12.99

IMG_6558

IMG_6560

This one makes absolutely zero sense, or maybe I’m just too old. I do like the cartoon version of Yeti better than the skeleton version of the for Tower of Terror bellhop, so there’s that.

IMG_6562_2

This is a first. The Pirates League is like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for pirates, right?

IMG_6567

Children’s shirts. Originally $32.95. One on left is now $14.99, right $12.99

IMG_6547_2

Originally $36.95, now $14.99. It’s cute enough, but looks like it’s for a small boy and not sure what small boy would want to wear it with that picture.

IMG_6550_2

Waiting for the Jar Jar Binks Wasssssssssssssup?! shirt.

IMG_6566

Here are some Tinker Bell pieces of merchandise. This small purse bag was originally $29.95, now $12.99.

IMG_6556

Larger bag was originally $29.95, now $14.99

IMG_6555

Pillow was originally $19.95, now $7.99. I think this is actually pretty sharp looking.

IMG_6553_2

Would love to see more classic Disney character shirts like this. Maybe a limited run with Black Cauldron, Robin Hood, or The Rescuers characters? Originally $24.95, now $12.99

IMG_6589

More Statler and Waldorf merch as well please. Basically there were bloggers before blogging was cool. Originally $24.95, now $12.99.

IMG_6587

Kid’s Nemo shirt. Originally $19.95, now just $4.99

IMG_6583_2

And THIS is the type of back of shirt I can get behind. That price is a steal for this shirt.

IMG_6584_2

There’s usually a good amount of Minnie Mouse stuff to choose from for young girls, and this month was no exception.

IMG_6545_2

Not a fan of this magnet set at all. Probably a good reason it’s already marked down to $3.99 from $9.95 even though we’re not even halfway through 2015.

IMG_6624

Here’s a flat magnet set featuring characters from Toy Story Midway Mania. Also marked down to $3.99. This would be kind of neat to have a sheet like this for attractions across property.

IMG_6622

Dang it! I bought this magnet for full price on my Disney Cruise last year. Now just $1.99 (and I bought another one).

IMG_6608_2

I remember seeing this piece of artwork at the Art of Disney Store at Downtown Disney. Originally $495, but it can be yours now for the low low price of just $296.99.

IMG_6626_2

I think these items of fashion came from Tren-D at Downtown Disney. Is that BOHEMIAN MINNIE on the left?!

IMG_6591

IMG_6571

This Vinylmation set is the first piece of Gravity Falls merchandise I have ever seen at the Outlets. Originally $29.95, this was only marked down to $20.99, which is pretty steep for Vinylmation.

IMG_6574

I have seen the Little Mermaid at least 50 times and I had absolutely no idea this Vinylmation was for Flotsam and Jetsam until I looked at the back on the box. This set was also originally $29.95 but marked down to $17.99.

IMG_6576_2

Speaking of weird, this week I found out there is a Little Mermaid DVD that only has Mermaid 2 and Mermaid 3. Who could possibly want that?! I’m biased when I say that, because as a person who owns pretty much every Disney and Pixar film on DVD, I once had to watch Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea no less than 10 times in a single week because the four year old in our family would watch nothing else. “AGAIN!” I watched it so many times that I now actually like it. And now you have all experienced schadenfreude.

IMG_6577_2

Okay, now this is straight up weird. This is just like a picture of an actual Minnie Mouse plush on a shirt. WHY?!! It was also originally $49.95. Whaaaaaaaaaat?! Have we slipped into another dimension?! This shirt would haunt me if I even thought it was hanging on a closet in our house.

IMG_6594_2
Now just $24.99.

But look at this! It’s part of a whole collection!!!!! And yet, believe it or not, that’s not even the strangest thing this month.

IMG_6592

No, the title of the Most Next Level Bananas item goes to this notepad. First, it’s just Minnie’s skirt. Does that make sense? Second of all, it’s about the size of a nickel. WHAT KIND OF NOTE CAN YOU WRITE IN THAT SMALL A SPACE?! Is it for that market of people who write notes but don’t know what to say?

IMG_6546

That’s it for this month at the Outlets. If you need me, I’ll be the guy buying 1000 Minnie Mouse skirt notepads so I can write my obituary.

There are actually two Disney outlet stores in Orlando. Both are in Orlando Premium Outlet shopping complexes, and they are called Disney’s Character Warehouse, presumably because The Land Of Misfit Toys was already trademarked. There is one Character Warehouse located on International Drive close to Universal Studios (4951 International Dr, Orlando, FL 32819), and the other is on Vineland Avenue, right across I-4 near the exits to Disney World (8200 Vineland Ave, Orlando, FL 32821). For this edition of MMM, we went to the location near Universal.

I get a lot of questions about this, so we’ll answer them here. You can order any item from the Disney Outlet Stores by calling the WDW Merchandise Guest Services (877-560-6477) There is a catch though, if the item is still available they will charge you full retail price for it, plus shipping. The Outlet Stores themselves do not ship merchandise.

IMG_6563
Are we to assume Stitch is on the INSIDE of this cup? Whaaaaat?!

  • OK, going out on a limb here, but I suspect that “Peace Love and Yetis” is an awesome joke.
People old enough to remember the 1970s may be familiar with Don Cornelius, who ended every episode of Soul Train with the phrase “Peace, Love, and Soul!”
Is this shirt just and obscure “Disco Yeti” joke?

  • I saw that Bohemian Minnie in Sunset Couture in DHS back in oh, January I’d say? I tweeted it and had someone guess that it was La Befana , the Italian Christmas tradition. Seems like a stretch…

  • Is there a way to purchase this merchandise online? We have Disney stores here in Houston, but the only “park” merchandise we ever get is from Disneyland. And not much of that.
