New Fantasyland in Soft Opening Phase

New Fantasyland is currently in a soft opening phase at the Magic Kingdom. It appears that the area will be in the test-and-adjust period for a while.

Currently open are Ariel’s Grotto (a meet and greet with Ariel), Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, Gaston’s Tavern, Bonjour Village Gifts, and – of course – Enchanted Tales with Belle, which has been in testing for a few weeks. The Be Our Guest Restaurant is not currently open to the public.

Keep in mind that with any soft opening, the area could close at any time. It will officially open to the public on December 6, 2012, with the official preview phase starting November 19.

We’ll keep you posted with the latest information!

  • Thanks for the update! I’m very excited to see everything! I’m going to make a day trip on Monday – fingers crossed it’s still open!

We’re going the end of this month! Hoping we can get a little peek when we are there!!!

  • We are leaving tonight and will be there on Sunday…I’ll let you know!!!!

Oh great! This is exactly I was hoping for. So excited about our early November visit.

  • Awesome, we arrive in WDW Tuesday so will head to MK on Wednesday. Fab.

  • I’ll be there next week too. Any chance that your personalized touring plans will be updated by then to include these new attractions?

    • David Davies

The personalized touring plans will offer the new attractions as options in the next day or two. However, note that:

      1. The plans will assume the attractions are open, but there’s a higher-than-normal chance that won’t be true during a soft-opening period.

      2. With any new attractions, we lack historical data on which to base our predictions, so our predictions may not be as good as they are for other attractions. Please submit wait times so that our predictions can improve.

Rikki you just made my day!! That is awesome news! I was hoping for this, I will heading to the World Nov. 10th.

  • Yeah!!! We leave in the morning and will be at MK Sunday. Cannot wait.

Great news! We’ll be in Orlando at the beginning of November for 10 days. We’ll definitely check out the new Fantasyland area. If we get to see any of the new stuff then it will be an added benefit. Maybe we’ll go back to MK a couple times and see whatever is open.

We were there today and Under the Sea was down for a bit but we happened to get there just as it was re-opening. There were mixed responses on how long they were planning on doing the soft openings. It was a cool ride though. We liked the Enchanted Tales with Belle better though (it may have been the fact my youngest was Chip and my little girl was a laughing portrait).

According to WDWMagic, after this Firday there are 2 weeks solid (apart from Oct 27) of CM previews? Will there probably be no guest access during this time? And why is the the 27th missed?

    • Jennifer

Read a post on WDWMagic that the 27th is Walt Disney Imagineering previews.

  • I am way more excited than a 40 year old man should be about this!

It looks like the New Fantasyland isn’t in the Ultimate Plan?
