New Nighttime Castle Show Set To Debut at the Magic Kingdom

Disney will debut a brand new castle projection show for the Magic Kingdom this fall.

The new show, called Celebrate the Magic, will premiere sometime in November. It will take the place of The Magic, The Memories, and You! castle show, which will have its last showing on September 3, 2012. There will not be a nighttime castle projection show for the remainder of September and all of October.

The new show will include elements of its predecessor; however, it will have a completely new story with new music and new special effects.

According to Show Director Katy Harris, “‘Celebrate the Magic’ takes us on a journey to the heart of the most beloved Disney stories and characters. This amazing show will magically transform Cinderella Castle with spectacular projection effects, choreographed to a new music soundtrack. The show will be full of emotion and storytelling, proving that, with imagination and magic in our hearts, anything is possible.”

PhotoPass photos will not be a part of of this new show. Instead, this new show’s main focus is the emotional connection people have to some of Disney’s most magical film moments, along with some of the most memorable characters.

I know that The Magic, The Memories and You! blew me away the first time I saw it. I can’t wait to see what Disney has up its sleeves with this new show. Stay tuned to the blog as more information gets released.

  • As many times as I’ve seen that show, the photos were way too difficult to make out, especially from further back on Main Street. I also did not like that song at all. Felt like a voyeur looking at someone else’s vacation photos. It might go against popular opinion but I’m not going to miss the MM&Y show, and am looking forward to Disney owned content projected instead.

  • I count this as an upgrade to an already spectacular show. The photos on the castle were kinda tough to make out anyway, and even to the extent that you could make them out, you’re still basically looking at other people’s vacation photos. It didn’t detract from the show, but unless you happened to be one of the lucky people to have your image projected on the castle, it didn’t really add to it, either. This will enable Disney to focus more upon the jaw-dropping effects, storytelling, etc. that appeal to everyone. Can’t wait to see it in January!

  • Wah! Boo and hiss. We are there in October and loved the castle projection show. Thanks for the info but poobags Disney, why then!

  • MM&Y at WDW was stunning and it absolutely took my breath away. I look forward to see the new show.

  • The first time I saw MM&Y, a pic of my son and I was projected onto the castle — awesome! (Just wish they had had some way of selling that night’s show; we would definitely have bought it!) But pictures of people on the castle isn’t what makes the show great; it’s the terrific effects that completely transform the castle. I’m looking forward to the new show and am really hoping they’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what amazing effects this kind of show can deliver.

  • That stinks we are going in October and had planned on seeing it.

    • I agree…So disappointed to hear there will be no show end of September when we will be there, but glad I found out now! I was in the midst of trying to reschedule our dinner reservations to allow us to see it… Really bummed because we are taking our son who has never seen it before and we have been raving about it!

  • I’m excited about this. I loved the old show, but never really got into the PP photos being projected on it. In all honesty they were hard to see anyway unless you were looking straight on and from fairly close.

  • Is there anything concrete on the start date for the new show beyond “holiday season” for us early Nov visitors?

    • Nothing concrete yet. At least nothing I’ve heard.
