PHOTOS: Bongos Cafe Being Demolished While the Estefans’ New Restaurant Gets Ready to Open
If you live in Central Florida, or visit Walt Disney World enough the name “Pece of Mind” may have started to become familiar to you. This demolition and construction company seems to have plenty of work around the theme parks and Orlando area. Their latest job is demolishing Bongos Cuban Cafe at Disney Springs. Once an icon of the West Side at Downtown Disney, Bongos Cuban Cafe is now being demolished. But, if you’re feeling bad for Gloria and Emilio Estefan, have no fear. They are opening an all-new signature restaurant just down the road at Sunset Walk, part of the Margaritaville Resort Orlando. The Estefan Kitchen is at a prime spot, in the center of Sunset Walk, and is slated to open in just a few weeks.
While the demolition at Disney Springs is not a pretty sight, it just means we are getting closer to the much-anticipated arrival of Beatrix. Will you venture to Sunset Walk to try the Estefan Kitchen now that Bongos Cuban Cafe is gone? Are you excited for Beatrix Restaurant?
I’m super sad to discover this now but happy that we found this place a few years ago when visiting Disney Springs. My husband and children and I had an amazing time there. I have been waiting to go back and now that we are going in a few weeks, I now just read this. I’m super shocked! I hope the new place is as amazing as this one. We will be checking it out when we get down there.
Best restaurant at Disney! Amazing Cuban food with fantastic music! So sad!
I don’t see myself going to margaritaville just for their restaurant. Bongos was cool … no idea if any of that vibe will make it down to the new joint.
Wow… I was opening team for Bongos Cuban Cafe, and worked there on and if for a total of 10 years. It hurts to see this. But on to better things like everything else. Good Luck to the Estefan’s.
I hope they saved all the wonderful mosaic tile work on the bar.
