Spot the Difference: Bioreconstruct Theme Park CONSTRUCTION Aerials Edition (Tropical Americas, Hollywood Drift and MORE!)
“Shall we play a game?” – WarGames (1983)
Spot the Difference is a classic puzzle game format which asks the readers to look at two photos and find all the differences between them. We at the SATURDAY SIX blog series began applying this idea to the theme park world with a series of Spot the Difference articles using a variety of subjects including Universal’s Epic Universe, Disney’s D23 Expo, and theme park lands such as How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk.
We’re back with a new edition looking at various construction projects that are currently taking place at the Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World. Even better? We’re using blogger-in-the-sky @bioreconstruct‘s E-Ticket aerial photos for each section!
Each aerial photo will be followed by a second photo that – upon first sight – looks exactly the same, but actually has six differences hidden inside. Can YOU spot all the differences? Keep your head on a swivel because Digital Maestro Scott Walker has made some clever and subtle changes. Remember that clicking on any picture will bring up a larger version, and we’ve also included the answer key for each set of photos at the bottom of each section. Have fun!
# 6 – Fast & Furious – Hollywood Drift
My beloved (while oft reviled by others) Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit made its way to the great big theme park in the sky two years ago in order to make way for a new coaster themed to the Fast and Furious franchise. This is a highly anticipated attraction because it will be the first time a Fast & Furious attraction in Florida will be, well, FAST. Until now we’ve only had a slow moving “party bus” with a nonsensical storyline.
Construction of this new coaster goes from right outside the Universal Citywalk lagoon through multiple lands inside Universal Studios Florida. Keep your eyes open for mischievous minions, who seemingly love to be playing around the coaster track…

# 5 – Jurassic Park River Adventure
In many ways, the Jurassic Park River Adventure in Islands of Adventure is the closest thing Universal has to Disney’s iconic Jungle Cruise attraction. The River Adventure is currently going through a major refurbishment that will be lasting almost a full year. Hopefully when it returns it will have the same level of plussing that its counterpart in Universal Studios Hollywood received several years ago (although we’re not holding our breath on that one.)

# 4 – Lost Continent
Rumors and Innuendo suggest a Pokemon land is coming to Islands of Adventure, right off the heels of the spectacular debut of Super Nintendo World in Epic Universe. To make way for this new land in Islands of Adventure, the Lost Continent area of the park is finally being bulldozed to the ground after being closed for a while now. We’ve said our goodbyes to Sindbad and Lord Darkenon, but will we be saying hello to Pikachu and Charizard soon? Time will tell.

# 3 – Tropical Americas
Animal Kingdom has two exciting properties coming to the park with attractions themed to Encanto and Indiana Jones. While we may never understand why Disney got rid of the only dinosaurs in Walt Disney World for the upcoming Tropical Americas land, one thing is for sure, the new area is going to look great when compared to the former Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama.

# 2 – Monsters Inc. at DHS
Losing Muppet*Vision 3D and the Muppet Courtyard will always be heartbreaking, but if there is one saving grace, it’s that the characters and world building of Pixar’s Monsters Inc. have been truly fantastic from their very first appearance back in 2001. The Monsters Inc. brand continues the fine Muppet tradition of combining all ages humor with heart using over the top – and extremely colorful – characters. The new Monsters Inc. area in Disney Hollywood Studios has some big shoes to fill, and here’s hoping they can live up to the legacy of this area.

# 1 – Villains Land and Piston Peak
An actual area dedicated to villains in the world’s most popular theme park seemed so inconceivable to me over the past decade or so that I had settled into a “I’ll believe it when I see it” mentality. Sure we’ve seen things like Knockturn Alley in the Wizarding World and the Dark Universe over at Epic, but an area dedicated to the baddies at Disney’s Magic Kingdom? Seemed like an impossible dream for many years, but the new Villains Land is chugging along and right near by we also have an entire area dedicated to Pixar’s Cars with Piston Peak. As a person who considers the first Cars film to be in my Pixar Mt. Rushmore, I’m certainly hyped for their addition to the park (although I personally would have used them to transform the Speedway instead.)

I would like to offer a comment about enlarging the aerial photos. I have found that when I click on “CLICK HERE to see them all!”, the resulting answer-key photo is not all that large. Instead, I suggest this procedure:
(1) Right-click on “CLICK HERE to see them all!”
(2) On the menu that pops up, click “Open link in new tab.”
(3) Now, when you click on the photo in that new tab, it will expand out to an easier viewing size.
This could just be a settings issue with my software that I’m not aware of, but just in case anyone else isn’t satisfied with the answer-key photo, the above might help.
