Starbucks Coming to Disney Parks

Here is some great news to start the week off with: Starbucks and Disney Parks & Resorts announced today that Starbucks will soon have one location in every park at the Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort. This June, the first of these themed Starbucks locations will open in Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café on Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure. The store’s location plays off the Spanish/Mexican architecture of the period, and baristas will wear 1920s-inspired attire.

“Starbucks and Disney have many things in common,” said Arthur Rubinfeld, president, Global Development, for Starbucks. “We share a passion for providing excellent customer service, delivering high quality in everything we do, and ensuring that every experience with our brand exceeds our customers’ expectations. This is something our customers and partners (employees) have asked for through MyStarbucksIdea.com since the site launched more than four years ago, so we are pleased to bring this idea to life.”

These new Starbucks locations will include signature items such as coffee and espresso beverages, Frappuccino® blended beverages, and signature breakfast sandwiches and pastries. Disney will also be serving its own signature sandwiches, desserts, and other sweet treats. Beverages will be served in Disney and Starbucks branded cups.

“We know food and beverage offerings are an important part of the memories our guests make at Disney Parks and now they will be able to enjoy their favorite Starbucks® beverage as part of their experience,” said Maribeth Bisienere, vice president, food and beverage line of business for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “Many of our guests have shared their passion for Starbucks with us, and we look forward to making their feedback a reality as we debut the first location at Disney California Adventure.”

  • Amazing! Its really awesome piece of writing,
I have got much clear idea about from this article.

  • When I was in a coffee shop in Portland (the new Seattle for coffee) the owner told me how much they hated Starbucks but when they went to Ireland that is where they got their coffee because it was always consistent and you knew what you were getting.

I buy my whole bean from other places that sell regional coffees but Starbucks is my go to place on the road to get a decent cup that will always be decent no matter where I get it.

  • The curse of NEEDING coffee!! (Not me). I do recognize that the Nescafe stuff isn’t good though. But I predict the starbucks experiment going the way of the McDonald’s in the parks… (Anyone remember being able to get fries at that wagon thing by splash mountain?)

IMO, Disney is doing a stop gap measure to really and truly explore people’s appetite for “real” coffee. Then, starbucks and Disney relationship will sour and Disney will provide brewed coffee themselves.

I couldn’t think of anything easier than selling good coffee to a captive customer base that is already there. And copying what Starbucks actually does (not their trademarks, but just making coffee and espresso and milk drinks) has been done so many times over by lots of mom and pop coffee shops. It can be done. It makes me wonder what kind of profit margin there is on the Nescafe. It must be SUPER high. They don’t want to water that down or something. Or maybe it’s just too much work to get through the Disney bureaucracy just to end up with a cafe.

By the way: Best cup of coffee at Disney: Regular “columbian coffee” at Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT.

Disney here’s my suggestion: Do a whole coffee exhibit and ramp up the sales of the mickey coffee as a souvenir. Put it in the wonders of life pavilion. They could have freshly roasted beans right there. There’s a lot of specialty coffee places in the mall that do coffee theater like that. They could even have a ride or movie about coffee. Yeah it would be over the top. But nothing disney does ever loses money…. (just kidding; google john carter flop)

  • It’s a step into the right direction. Anything is better than nasty Nescafe. I would have preferred Dunkin Donuts coffee. Starbucks is just too expensive.

    • Ha, this is Disney. It doesn’t matter if the coffee is good or bad, it will be expensive so you might as well have some Starbucks for you money.

Actually like Dunkin Donuts coffee. A mild South American blend.

  • The only place that I know of to get decent coffee is at the Polynesian, where they serve Kona.

    • I always hit up Kona for a press pot. It worked especially well for dinner on Feb 29th, when I still had 10 more hours of Magic Kingdom in front of me. 😛

  • Just to give the Canadian perspective… does the end of the Nescafe monopoly mean that the Canadian pavilion can finally get Tim Horton’s coffee?

    • Tim Horton’s coffee would be a great idea! Best coffee ever!

  • I am very happy to hear about this. I went to Disney World for the first time this past January. I really wanted a real coffee and all the parks had were Nescafé (yuck). They called it “Disney Coffee” and probably tastes just like the Disney coral in the big water tanks at EPCOT. Disney coral is made out of cement. Ha ha ha

  • So exciting! I’ve learned to live by the “real coffee” page on AllEars, but even with that, it’s nearly impossible to get good coffee in MK, for example. I don’t care about the price, I just need some good coffee in the morning, because that Nescafe stuff is swill 🙂

  • Any really good coffee is a welcome addition. Starbucks is fine, but any good coffee for the real coffee drinkers has been long needed. And by real coffee drinkers, I mean the people who actually drink coffee as opposed to those having a high priced coffee flavored milkshake. 😉

  • I didn’t think I’d see it in my lifetime, but the right conditions have manifested and $9 Coffee is on its way!

  • Does this mean that the hideous Nescafe brew that they foist upon us will ultimately end up being a thing of the past?

    • Disney hasn’t officially stated whether Starbucks will replace all coffee served at the parks and resorts. It will be available in at least one location of every Disney theme park.

    • Well, first we have to prosecute for crimes against humanity whomever from Disney thought up the idea of Nescafe to begin with. And *then* it can be a thing of the past.

  • Mmm… An iced cold Frappuccino on a hot day in the Magic Kingdom? Sounds good to me! 🙂
