Are you headed to Disney World this summer? If so, you’ll find some exciting new events and entertainment rolling out to spice up the season. All this fun begins on June 10 — or even a few weeks earlier for the brand new drone show at Disney Springs!

If you’re looking to plan a trip this summer, Disney currently has specials on both tickets (Disney World Special Offer Tickets for Summer of 2024) and rooms (Spring to Early Fall 2024 Room Discounts at Disney World). Call Disney at (407) 939-5277, book online, or talk to your Disney-specialist travel agent.

The Lion King 30th Anniversary Celebration

Animal Kingdom will be paying homage to the Lion King all summer long, in honor of its 30th anniversary. There will be limited-time merch, and special limited-time food (no notes on that yet). But perhaps the news that will make the biggest difference in your day is that you’ll be able to Meet & Greet with Timon and Rafiki over at Rafiki’s Planet Watch. This summer-long celebration will run from June 10 through September 6, 2024.

CommuniCore Plaza Grand Reveal + Encanto Show

The last walls in the Giant EPCOT Dirt Pit will come down this summer, and CommuniCore Plaza will be finished and ready for action on June 10, 2024. CommuniCore Hall will be the Festival Center when there’s one running, but it will be open immediately and available all year as a space to cool off and recharge.

Along with CommuniCore Hall, the new Mickey & Friends character greeting location will debut … as will the CommuniCore Plaza Stage, which will host a limited-time Encanto-themed summer sing-a-long. ¡Celebración Encanto! will run several times during the day and feature Mirabel and Bruno. ¡Celebración Encanto! will hold the stage at CommuniCore Plaza from June 10 through September 6, 2024.

Joy Comes to Hollywood Studios

Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” premieres in theaters on June 14, and beginning just a few days earlier on June 10 you’ll be able to Meet & Greet with Joy at Pixar Plaza. The space will continue to host other Pixar stars, and you’ll find a new space that’s made for selfie moments.

Brand New Drone Show at Disney Springs

We’ve saved the best for last: a brand new drone show “Disney Dreams That Soar” will take to the skies above Disney Springs’ West Side nightly from May 24 through September 2, 2024. This state-of-the-art show will feature drones choreographed to pair designs in the sky with a musical score that highlights Disney stories celebrating the joy of flight. Disney Dreams that Soar will be free to view for visitors to Disney Springs.

Meanwhile, at the Magic Kingdom …

If you’ve been paying attention then you noticed that Disney announced something new for Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Disney Springs. Over at the Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is also expected to open this summer … but, no date was released alongside this other news. Whomp whomp …

Although it took three visits for the Disney bug to "take", she now really wishes she lived a lot closer to the Parks.

  • It sounds like they’re expecting things to be busy and trying to push people to other parks and especially Disney springs

    • Hard to say. For Disney Springs, it could also be the opposite – they’re expecting things to be slow and they want to drive crowds to Disney Springs to support the restaurants and shops.
