In January, we’ll start work on new research projects and updates for the 2021 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. If there’s a trip planning question, piece of advice, or what-if scenario you’ve always wanted an answer to, let us know in the comments below!

In addition, the 2020 edition was completely re-structured and edited for easier reading and faster answers to common questions. The most recent update to the book (both print and e-book) was in October. It includes reviews of Galaxy’s Edge and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run; the Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs and its restaurants; a review of Epcot’s Takumi-Tei restaurant; and more.

I did Flight of Passage at rope drop (got there at 7:45 AM) and went on and finished the ride by 9 AM, the time that the park was suppose to open. I also did Galaxy’s Edge getting there at 5:30 AM, rope drop at 5:50 AM, and did the ride; Olga’s; Droid building before 7 AM. Both of these were in Fall off season.
As a rapidly aging geezer I like the information about some of the history and trivia in the parks and resorts.
I’d be interested in overview of the rope drop experiences for the different attractions (that really require rope drop unless you score a FP).
For example, unless you are going for an extended amount of time and staying on site, it can be hard to get a FP for both Slinky Dog Dash and Flight of Passage during your trip. If you put one park at the end of your trip, you are still going to have to rope drop one of the attractions.
It’d be nice to be able to read reviews of which rope drops, “suck the most” so you can pick which ones to suck it up for and which ones to avoid.
I’d like to see some suggested pastimes for when you split your party using rider swap. It’s no fun for the little one sitting there waiting for what must feel like forever, even if it’s only 10 minutes or so and sometimes it’s a lot longer. For example, one of us always takes our little one on People Mover while the other two ride Space Mountain. Splash mountain I had to hope she was willing to play “how many people are getting soaked?”, or go to the Thunder mountain play area (never, but at least it’s a thought).

Since I take your advice to leave the parks midday, where I take a break of maybe five hours (including lunch at a Disney sit-down restaurant), I find that none of the touring plans are fully doable as a result. So touring plans that incorporate those circumstances for people like myself, who are spending numerous days at the parks, would be very helpful.
“Most helpful negative review”–if an attraction doesn’t play well with a certain age group, or with the general public, what is it that they tend not to like about it?
I agree with Peggy! Too many stops slows you down so much (as well as fills up the bus, possibly before it gets to you). This would be very helpful info.
I would love the ability to put in all the rides, tell touring plans how many days I want to spend at that park, and receive suggestions on how to divide up the days/rides. Right now, if I want to do 2.5 days at Magic Kingdom, I have to create three separate touring plans but I am not always sure how to divide up the rides/what to do on what day. Thanks! I would love to see layouts of the new lands – Pandora, Toy Story Land, Galaxy’s Edge and (when it’s finished) the front half of EPCOT. I had a heck of a time trying to exit Toy Story Land and was even misdirected by a cast member.
Would love to have length attraction time for app when making quick decisions without my TP. Also, info in book for solo trips. For instance I was very happy walking to my upgraded Royal Room on riverside of building vs an Alligator Bayou spooky, lost in wooded trail room after park closing very late at night.
I’d like more in-depth info about Universal. Also more details on permanent quick-service restaruants within Disney World and Universal.
Would like to know which hotels share a Disney bus. For example, Wilderness Lodge shares the bus with Fort Wilderness and Contemporary. Would prefer a hotel that does not share a bus with another hotel.
Multi-park plans would be nice. The Universal and Disneyland books have them and it would be great to have for some of the Disney World parks.
I would like to see (included on the dashboard and app as well) a list of places to park your stroller. This threw me off and wasted time trying to figure it out. Also, a list of attractions that are indoors so that you can plan for rain.
Since the guide also contains touring plans for Universal and Islands of Adventure, I’d like to see one for Sea World, too.
What restaurants are good for kids who don’t just eat chicken nuggets and uncrustables? (not that there’s anything wrong with that)
Comprehensive list of character meals with cost, location, which characters are typically there, etc. It would be helpful if it was all in a table that was quick to look at so you could make a faster decision on which one works best for your trip.
