Y’all, we knew it was getting close when Disney World removed the construction walls last week. Now it’s been officially announced that Test Track will be reopening at EPCOT on July 22, 2025.

Details about what the new version will be like have been skimpy throughout the reimagining, but we did previously learn that

  • The queue will have six exhibits, with each celebrating both vehicles and designers that are at the forefront of developing automotive tech
  • New show scenes will highlight technological advances, including onboard tech, customization, and personalization
  • The ride aims to shine a spotlight on the joys of driving, illustrating how mobility enables our relationships and lifestyles
  • And of course, the vehicles themselves are getting an update inside and out, focusing on a sleek, futuristic look.

Today, we learned a bit more. Test Track “3.0” will have an all-new score, along with new scenes that “highlight technology making our cars smarter and our lives more fun”. Some of those scenes involve TREES, as we can see in the Walt Disney Imagineering reel below.

Riders will also learn about how vehicles have an ever-increasing ability to “see” the world they traverse through advanced cameras and sensors. And you’ll be zipping through forest terrain, but the iconic high-speed run at the end of the ride is still there.

The attraction, which closed for reimagining a year ago (almost literally – on June 17, 2024!), has been running cars on the track for a while. And if you think that means it’s likely that previews are coming before the official reopening, you’re right. Disney has already announced that previews will be available for Cast Members, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, Golden Oak residents, and Club 33 Members, so if you fall into one of those groups, keep an eye on your email!

No information has been shared about Lightning Lane status or Virtual Queues when Test Track reopens. But we expect that it will not use a Virtual Queue. We also expect it to join Lightning Lane Multi Pass as a Tier 1 attraction, the same as it was under other advance reservation line-skipping systems.
