Top 3 Things We Ate at Disney This Week, October 30, 2021

The TouringPlans in-park team gets to try a lot of food and drink. From quick service locations to table service meals and snacks in between, we try so many different foods to help keep information on our site up to date. Sometimes foods and drinks are wonderful. Other times, not as much. But what really rose to the top? Here’s our top 3 food or drink options the in-park team sampled this week.

Verandah Chicken Strips

These kinda just look like nuggs, but the Verandah Chicken Strips served at Tortuga Tavern in the Magic Kingdom are a real Fine Quality Product. Tender tenders are tossed in a tangy sweet, but not cloying, soy orange glaze topped with green onions and accompanied by crispy chips. It’s the elevated version of fast food that we didn’t know we needed but we’re glad we have.

Pumpkin Mousse Cake

The Pumpkin Mousse Cake, found at the Trolley Car Cafe (aka Starbucks) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, is billed as “milk chocolate chai mousse filled with pumpkin bread, set atop a chocolate shortbread cookie and vanilla buttercream.” That’s a lot of flavors in one fist-sized treat, but somehow it all works. The chocolate chai profile is mild enough that it doesn’t clash with the nutty sweet pumpkin and the mousse adds a level of creaminess to balance the snap of the cookie. This is one the rare 50th Anniversary special items we’ve found that doesn’t disappoint.

BaseLine Tap House Charcuterie Board

Charcuterie boards have popped up like weeds on Disney World restaurant menus – you can find them almost anywhere these days. The version at Hollywood Studios’ BaseLine Tap House stands out because of its reasonable price point of just $10.00. Featuring three kinds of cheese, grapes, gherkins, and a spicy salami this board is the perfect size for two to share while sampling a cold beverage. This board feels like vacation.

That’s just some of the yum we’ve eaten this week. Have any suggestions for us next week? Let us know in the comments.
