Top 3 Things We Ate at Disney This Week, October 23, 2021

The TouringPlans in-park team gets to try a lot of food and drink. From quick service locations to table service meals and snacks in between, we try so many different foods to help keep information on our site up to date. Sometimes foods and drinks are wonderful. Other times, not as much. But what really rose to the top? Here’s our top 3 food or drink options the in-park team sampled this week.

ALL the Crepes at La Creperie de Paris

La Creperie de Paris in the France pavilion (back by the Remy ride) is my new favorite spot at Epcot. I’m convinced that the prix fixe menu, priced at $33, is one of the best value meals at Walt Disney World. You get your choice of soup or salad, a savory gallette, a sweet crepe, and a beverage (which can be a soft drink or a hard cider). I’ve tried many of the items (pictured here is the melba dessert crepe) and they are uniformly delicious. The demi sec cider is *chef’s kiss* one of the best hard ciders I’ve ever tasted. The meal leaves you full, but not in a grotesque way such that you’re rendered unable to walk back to your bus in 95 degree heat.

Pro tip: you can get individual crepes from the quick service window outside the main restaurant, but the prix fixe menu is inside at the table service part of the venue. Reservations are not currently available – right now it’s walk-ins only – and not many people know about it, so now’s your time to pounce.

Fifi, Gigi, Mimi at Aloha Isle

This special treat at Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom is an homage to three of the singing birds at the nearby Tiki Room attraction. This stack of three mini bundt cakes (pineapple, orange, and vanilla) is topped with a serving of pineapple Dole Whip. The cakes are “glued” together with hidden vanilla frosting, which adds even more moistness to the dish. This treat is sized for sharing, but the stacked formation makes it difficult to attack the bottom cake properly if that’s the one you want. Ask for an extra bowl or two to make it easier for everyone to get their favorite.

50th Celebration Hot Dog at Casey’s Corner

Let’s be clear, this novelty item is not the “best” hot dog I’ve ever eaten, but it is one of the most interesting. This standard all-beef hot dog is topped with a strawberry-bacon jam, pieces of funnel cake, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. If you’re into sweet/savory juxtapositions, this certainly fits the bill. The strawberry jam had only the faintest of bacon notes, and most read as a fruit glaze. If you like a ham glazed with cherry or pineapple, this is fun riff on the meat/fruit genre.

That’s just some of the amazing things we’ve eaten this week. Have any suggestions for us next week? Let us know in the comments.
