Walt Disney World Kicks Off Brand New Experiences for 2019
Today, the Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating the fact you should visit the resort, #NowMoreThanEver. With new activities that debuted today across Walt Disney World, as well as some additional things that will debut this year, (ahem…. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge), it really does seem like 2019 will be the year to visit the resort overall. But, since that long-awaited Star Wars themed land won’t be opening until the Fall of 2019, the resort is looking to add some smaller, but still entertaining experiences for Guests to participate in.
First things first, at the Magic Kingdom, Guests are invited to celebrate Mickey and Minnie with Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration. The event includes new entertainment, merchandise and specialty food and beverages! Guests will be able to meet the duo together at Town Square Theater dressed in their celebration gear, and they will be able to dance with their favorite Disney pals during the “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” which takes place multiples times a day in front of Cinderella Castle. (I have to get the Mickey Mouse Birthday Sipper!)
Moving on to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which is celebrating its 30th year this year, Pixar is going to be king. First, Guests will be able to have an Incredible experience with the Incredible Celebration will take place in the former Pixar Place, which is now known as Municiberg, and will feature Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible and Frozone in “The Super Shindig” dance party. You’ll also have the chance to meet Edna Mode. Oh and if you’re a fan on Monsters Inc, you’ll want to head to Walt Disney Presents, as Mike and Sulley will be meeting with Guests. Then, as was announced recently, the Lightning McQueen Racing Academy will debut on March 31.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Guests will be able to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Lion King. (I’m feeling really old right now….first we’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of Disney’s MGM….I mean Disney’s Hollywood Studios and now this?!) Here, you’ll be able to take part in the Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party which will feature Rafiki and Timon. There’s also going to be special photo backgrounds on Discovery Island and at the park’s main entrance.
Then, later this year, starting Memorial Day weekend and running through September 30, during the Tree of Life Awakenings nighttime projection show there will be stunning projections and music that pay tribute to the classic film.
Finally, kicking off today is the Epcot International Festival of the Arts. This Festival lasts through February 25 and Guests can indulge in world-class culinary, visual and performing arts, including the Disney on Broadway Concert Series.
Oh and later this year, during the summer, it was announced that the Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live! will be returning this summer. During this show that takes place on the America Gardens Theater stage, Star-Lord and Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy will take you on a musical journey through the cosmos, showcasing hits from Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix tapes. The show will take place daily from June 14 through August 18.
Like I said….2019 is the year to visit Walt Disney World. I’m looking forward to experiencing these activities soon. What about you?
Hi! I’ve been trying to find a full schedule of times for the “Super Shindig”, but have only gotten 10:30 – 6:30! Do you know if they are every hour, or what times they do in the afternoon? Thanks so much!
