Opening Dates Announced for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

It’s official! Disney has released the grand opening dates for the show-stopping Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction!

Guests on the East Coast will get to experience the attraction first, as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance officially opens on Thursday, December 5, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida.  (As a reminder, Florida’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land officially opens on August 29 with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run as its only attraction.)

The attraction will open on the West Coast just a little over a month later at Disneyland in California on Friday, January 17, 2020.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is slated to be the most state-of-the-art attraction the the Walt Disney Company has ever done. The attraction will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base. Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, guests break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren.

Who else is excited about riding Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance?

Hi! When do you anticipate having Touring Plans available for Hollywood Studios that include Galaxy’s edge? We are going in early October and I’m a little anxious that I don’t have a plan available. I am really looking forward to seeing the recommendations. Thank you 🙂

Very curious to see how this effects interim crowds! Any guesses from your experts would be great. I’m hoping this means my November trip will be less crowded than I had feared.

We’ll be there mid-Dec, so less than 2 weeks after it opens. I’m not sure whether that’s good or bad for us…Oh, and I second the call for touring plans that include the GE attractions.

I arrive December 7th. We will be staying in the park so will this allow us to get a better chance of getting on the ride?

Very excited! However, I want to wait for lines to settle down a little bit. Any idea when that will be?

Why doesn’t your site have any information on the new Star Wars park at Disneyland. It’s been a couple months since it opened and you don’t seem to have any information.

I wonder if this news will make some Star Wars fans push their early September plans a few months down the road to early December. Just wait ~90 days and you can experience the whole thing.

Bummer for Disneyland travelers hoping for Rise of the Resistance this year. Have friends traveling in October who were really hoping it would all be open.
