Ask It Results: 2018 Disney Trip
The best way to stave off the Disney post-vacation blues, they say, is to start planning your next Disney vacation. No matter who you are or where you are from, this year has had its share of interestingness and challenges. Perhaps the best way to get over the 2017 blues is to plan a 2018 vacation? With work schedules, finances, and the chaos of day-to-day life, sometimes it is hard to schedule a trip well in advance, but sometimes scheduling a vacation is the surest way to make sure you actually take that time off. To wrap up the year, we wanted you to let us know if you’ve got Disney vacation plans for next year. We asked you:
Are you taking a Disney vacation in 2018?
Here’s your results.
No, not in 2018 (483 votes, 21%)
As a local, I’m constantly reminding my daughter that most people do not go on a Disney vacation once a year, or even once every few years. We’re big fans of making sure that we respect that some people may be on their one and only trip to a Disney theme park, resort, or cruise. With the hype for Star Wars land coming in 2019, some people have mentioned that they’re skipping Disney this year so they can make sure to take a trip for that. Other people have mentioned that instead of Disney, this will be a Universal year for them. Whatever the reason, for some people, this isn’t a Disney year. (We thank you for following along with everything on TouringPlans even if it is a non-Disney year for you!)
Maybe, still planning (542 votes, 24%)
Friends of mine have worked for companies where vacation time is negotiated for the calendar year in the month of January. Everyone puts in their requests, seniority rules, and then you see what vacation times you happen to get. For people in those boats, it’s hard to plan a vacation in advance, not knowing if you’ll have time off. Things like finances can also come into play. Other people like waiting to see if there will be any special deals or last-minute bargains to make a Disney vacation happen. It can be quite a bit of anticipation waiting until the stars align so that you can push that Book Now button, can’t it?
Yes, already booked (1229 votes, 55%)
It should come as no surprise that people who are fans of a vacation planning site with a key focus on Disney would already have some sort of Disney vacation booked for next year. It is beautiful how diverse the trips booked happens to be. People are going on trips to international Disney parks (some, finishing up a goal of visiting all Disney parks worldwide). There’s people headed to Aulani — aloha to you all! You’ve got people booked on Adventures by Disney trips. (That’s on my bucket list to try!) There’s people setting sail on Disney Cruise Line–if you’re booked on the 11-night Southern Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy next summer, look for me and the family there. And of course you’ve got plenty of trips to Disneyland and Walt Disney World in the mix. Vacations are so important for health and wellbeing, and a beautiful ways to make memories with the ones you love. I’m so excited for everyone who has an upcoming trip, and if there’s anything we can do to help make your trip better, let us know in the comments.
That’s it for 2017 and Ask It for this year. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get my bags packed–I’m off for a “Magic”-al trip for New Year’s! Make sure to follow along on Twitter to live vicariously through this bucket-list cruise. (Once we set sail, my family and I will have done a cruise on each of the four Disney ships in a single calendar year!) Assuming I don’t stay hidden away on Castaway Cay, Ask It will be back in 2018 with more questions for you all.
Happy New Year!
