The Best Day of the Week to Visit EPCOT for Low Waits
We’re back this week answering the question “What’s the best day of the week to visit EPCOT?” Our previous posts on the best days of the week to visit the Magic Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom. Our approach for EPCOT uses the same data and statistical tests we’re doing to have confidence in our results:
- Using data from popular attractions, because Swiss Family Treehouse’s constant 0-minute wait doesn’t tell us anything about crowds
- During the busiest time of the day since that’s when crowds are highest
- After Disney changed its DAS eligibility rules in mid-2024, since that changed Lightning Lane and posted wait times
- Taking into account the effects of Magic Kingdom’s Halloween and Christmas parties on crowds at other parks
We’re going to add one more analysis for EPCOT: Festival and non-festival times.
EPCOT hosts four major festivals throughout the year:
- Festival of the Arts, which runs from mid-January through the third week of February
- Flower and Garden from late February/early March through late May/early June
- Food & Wine from late August through late November
- Festival of the Holidays from late November to December 30
The longest common stretch of days in 2024 and 2025 without an EPCOT festival was June 3 through August 28. That starts next week for 2026, so we’ll see if guests visiting EPCOT during “no-festival summer” do so differently than the rest of the year.
As always, the best way to avoid long lines is to have a touring plan and use our crowd calendar for specific recommendations on which park to visit each day of the year.
Best days of the week to visit EPCOT throughout the year
Let’s start with a full-year look at the best days of the week to visit EPCOT, with and without festivals and the Magic Kingdom’s special events. We’ve got nearly 450,000 wait times from EPCOT to analyze. Here’s the chart of average posted wait times by weekday:
And here’s the matrix that compares each day to every other:
It looks like Wednesday’s the best day to visit EPCOT when you look at it across an entire year, and Tuesday’s pretty close. Saturday’s the worst day to visit, followed by Friday. Our confidence levels for all of those are above 95%, so we should feel pretty good about that.
The difference in posted wait times between the best and worst days looks to be about 7 minutes per attraction during the peak part of the day. EPCOT’s got a dozen major rides with posted waits, so 7 minutes per attraction is nearly 90 minutes over the course of a day. That’s a decent time savings for folks who don’t want to get up early to take advantage of EPCOT lower waits at rope drop.
Wednesday’s also the best day to visit Animal Kingdom and Saturday’s the worst, so EPCOT and Animal Kingdom have something in common there. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the same thing at Hollywood Studios when we do that analysis next week. So maybe there’s a “Magic Kingdom” and “everything else” set of recommendations to be made.
EPCOT’s best day of week: January through July
Let’s see how much the Magic Kingdom’s Halloween and Christmas party schedule affect EPCOT crowds. We know from past analysis that those parties significantly alter crowd flow at the Magic Kingdom. Our assumption is that when guests are in Walt Disney World but not visiting the Magic Kingdom, they’re visiting other parks.
Here’s the graph:
And here’s the matrix:
The best and worst days to visit EPCOT from January through July are the same as for the full year:
- Wednesday, Tuesday, and Thursday are the best days to visit (in that order)
- Saturday’s the day with the longest posted wait times
The only difference between the January-to-July and full-year results is that Friday and Sunday switch places. That’s probably not significant enough to worry about. From January to July, the average time saved in line per ride by visiting on the best day versus the worst is around 8 minutes, or around an hour and a half over EPCOT’s dozen major attractions.
Next let’s see if the Magic Kingdom’s holiday parties affect EPCOT crowds.
EPCOT’s best day of week: August through December when the Magic Kingdom has parties
Here’s the chart showing the best days of the week to visit EPCOT from August through December, when the Magic Kingdom has its holiday parties:
And here’s the matrix:
And right away we see a small but significant difference in EPCOT crowds when the Magic Kingdom has holiday parties: Thursday becomes the best day of the week to visit. It’s a small difference – Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are good days to visit for the full year too, but there’s nearly a 7-minute drop in EPCOT’s Thursday wait times in the fall versus the first 8 months of the year.
Our Magic Kingdom analysis noted that Thursday’s also a decent day to visit the Magic Kingdom; it’s essentially tied with Tuesday and Sunday in a group of second-best alternatives after Friday. And Thursday’s in the second-best group for the Animal Kingdom. So maybe “Thursdays in the fall” is a good general rule for Walt Disney World too.
We’ll wrap up this analysis by looking at the brief period each summer when EPCOT doesn’t have a festival, to see if that changes anything.
Best days to visit EPCOT when there’s not a festival happening
We mentioned earlier that EPCOT didn’t run festivals from June 3 to August 27 in both 2024 and 2025. And we noted that Disney changed its DAS policy on May 24, 2024 but grandfathered in families who’d already booked their trips under the old rules, so we use July 1, 2024 as Disney’s DAS rules change date. To have extra data in June we’re going to include June 3 to June 30, 2024 in this set of data, even though some families were still operating under the old DAS rules. Hopefully the extra data will offset the mixed DAS policy.
Here’s the chart of EPCOT’s best days to visit when there’s not a festival going on:
And here’s the matrix:
It looks like EPCOT’s a different park when it’s not hosting a festival. Sunday becomes the best day of the week to visit for low wait times, and Monday replaces Saturday as the worst day to visit.
It’s also interesting to note that Sunday’s average wait time without an EPCOT festival is 34 minutes but 48 minutes when EPCOT has a festival. That’s 168 minutes in line over EPCOT’s 12 major attractions – nearly 3 hours in line. I suspect that’s more than some people save when buying Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Wrapping Up: Wednesday and Tuesday are good at EPCOT; avoid Monday
We’ve looked at EPCOT’s posted wait times over the course of an entire year, then the difference when Magic Kingdom hosts holiday parties; and then during the few weeks when EPCOT’s not hosting a festival. Here’s the results in one graphic:
No matter how we sliced the data, Wednesday was either the best or next-best day to visit EPCOT, with Tuesday and Thursday in the mix as well. Saturday’s the day with the longest lines when EPCOT’s having a festival, with significantly lower lines during the weeks EPCOT doesn’t have a festival. And Monday’s got consistently longer waits no matter the time of year.
Next week we’ll take a look at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to find the best days of the week to visit. In the comments below, let us know if there’s something specific you’d like us to look at.

Any correlation between Magic Kingdom usually having Evening Extra Magic Hours on Wednesdays and/or no Halloween/Christmas parties on Wednesdays, so Wednesday is normally the best day to visit Magic Kingdom for Deluxe Resort guests and/or during party seasons?
