New Charts! Hotel Satisfaction Over Time
Today we’re releasing new charts showing guest hotel satisfaction over time for Disney and Universal resorts. These join our previously-released charts for restaurant satisfaction, “best day of the week to visit” each theme park, and day-of and 21-days-in-advance Lightning Lane distribution trends and likely run-out times.
Here’s the chart for Disney’s Pop Century Resort:
Vertical bars on the graph show a timeline of significant events at each resort, such as room refurbishments and pool rehabs.
Hotel Charts and Filters
The chart’s default view is the Overall Rating, a comprehensive summary covering the entire vacation experience. It’s an unweighted average of the ratings for the resort’s individual components.
The charts include filters to see ratings for those individual resort components as well:
- Room incorporates guest ratings for room size, cleanliness, noise level, and bedding quality
- Pool is a summary of guest ratings for pool size, crowds, and cleanliness
- Dining includes guest ratings of the hotel’s quick service and table service restaurants
- Staff ratings measures friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism
- Check In/Out covers the process of checking in and out of the hotel
- Stay Again shows the percent of guests who say they’d stay at this hotel again
- Would Recommend shows the percent of guests who say they’d definitely recommend this hotel to a friend
- and Overall Satisfaction shows the percent of guests who say they’re very satisfied with this hotel
Hotel Timeline Events Explain Why Satisfaction Changes Over Time
Like our restaurant charts, the new hotel charts display significant events in each hotel’s timeline, such as room upgrades and pool refurbishments. That makes it possible to track significant changes in satisfaction back to specific hotel projects.
For example, here’s the “Would Recommend to a Friend” chart for Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort with a timeline event showing an improvement in that metric after Disney opened the Disney Skyliner, connecting Caribbean Beach to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
We captured many hundreds of these events for Disney’s and Universal’s hotels.
Let me know in the comments below, or email (len@touringplans.com) if there are events you’d like to see added.
