Disney World Hurricane Milton Closures

Airports
- Orlando International Airport:
- Monday 1:50 p.m.:On Wednesday morning, October 9, Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) will cease commercial passenger and private operations in advance of Hurricane Milton. The airport is not closed and will remain open to accept emergency/aid and relief flights as necessary. Commercial operations will resume as soon as possible based on damage assessment.
- Thursday 3:20 p.m.: The airport is expected to open at 6 p.m. today, October 10. Although we’ll receive a few domestic arrivals this evening, no departures or international flights will occur. Please don’t come to the airport for a departing flight tonight. Departures begin tomorrow. Check with your airline for updates.
- Sanford International:
- Wednesday 1:45 p.m.: Sanford International is now closed to the public. Global Entry appointments for Wed and Thu are canceled. Allegiant customers should visit Allegiant’s Travel Alerts page for status updates.
- Thursday 12:45 p.m.: Orlando Sanford International Airport will resume operations on 10/11/2024. Allegiant customers: visit https://allegiantair.com/travel-alerts for updates. Check with your contacts for services like car rentals & Global Entry for hours on Friday.
- Tampa International:
- Monday 10:15 a.m.: Tampa International Airport will suspend all commercial and cargo operations beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, ahead of Hurricane Milton, with the Airport remaining closed to the public until it can assess any damage after the storm.
- Thursday 3:20 p.m.: Tampa International Airport will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, October 11. Check with your airline for flight updates.

Disney World
Disney’s page for weather updates
Tuesday 5:15 p.m.: On Wednesday, October 9, the theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1:00 PM. It is likely the theme parks will remain closed on Thursday, October 10. We will consider opening Disney Springs on Thursday in the late afternoon, with limited offerings.
- Effective immediately, we will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences.
- Prepaid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.
Wednesday 3:15 p.m.: On Thursday, October 10, the theme parks and Disney Springs will remain closed. For partially used multi-day tickets, ticket expiration dates will be adjusted to expire on October 11, 2025.
- Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating on Wednesday, October 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
- Minnie Van service will be temporarily unavailable beginning at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9.
- Limited Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.
Thursday 5:15 p.m.:
The Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs will reopen on Friday, October 11 for their previously scheduled operating hours.
Please note that theme park and Disney Springs restaurant hours displayed on the Walt Disney World website and My Disney Experience app are based on normal operating hours. They do not reflect changes due to Hurricane Milton.
Magic Kingdom
- Magic Kingdom park will close at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is canceled on Thursday, October 10. Event tickets will be refunded.
- Wednesday 3:15 p.m.: Magic Kingdom park will remain closed on Thursday, October 10.
- Thursday 12:45 p.m.: Magic Kingdom will reopen on Friday, October 11.
EPCOT
- EPCOT will close at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9.
- Wednesday 3:15 p.m.: EPCOT will remain closed on Thursday, October 10.
- Thursday, 12:45 p.m.: EPCOT will reopen on Friday, October 11.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9
- Wednesday 3:15 p.m.: Hollywood Studios will remain closed on Thursday, October 10.
- Thursday, 12:45 p.m.: Hollywood Studios will reopen on Friday, October 11.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will close at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9
- Wednesday 1:15 p.m.: Animal Kingdom will remain closed on Thursday, October 10.
- Thursday, 12:45 p.m.: Animal Kingdom will reopen on Friday, October 11.
Typhoon Lagoon: will be closed on Wednesday, October 9 and remain closed on Thursday, October 10. (Blizzard Beach is not open at this time.) Update Friday 10:30 a.m.: Typhoon Lagoon will reopen on Saturday, October 12.
Fantasia Gardens & Winter-Summerland: will be closed on Wednesday, October 9 and remain closed on Thursday, October 10. Update Friday 10:30 a.m: Mini-golf locations are open today with their scheduled operating hours.
Disney World Hotels
At this time, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of October 6, 2024 through October 12, 2024. Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or canceled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees.
Monday, 6:00 p.m.: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, the Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.
Thursday 12:45 p.m.:
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa remain temporarily closed. Please continue to check back for updates on the reopening timeline.
Select dining locations continue to operate for Guests currently staying in Disney Resort hotels. Please check the food and dining pages for Disney Resort hotels on the website or via the My Disney Experience app for the latest details. Please be aware that operating hours and availability may be adjusted as necessary without prior notice.
Saturday 9:30 a.m.: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will reopen on Sunday, October 13.
Disney Springs
- Disney Springs will close at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9.
- Wednesday 1:15 p.m.: Disney Springs will remain closed on Thursday, October 10.
- Thursday: 12:45 p.m.: Disney Springs will reopen on Friday, October 11.
Disney Cruise Line

Tuesday 12:20 p.m.: The October 11 sailing of the Disney Wish is canceled. Refunds will be automatically processed back to the original form of payment used for the cruise booking. An email with more information will be sent to booked Guests or their travel agents.
Universal Orlando

Tuesday, 2:45 p.m.: Due to Hurricane Milton, Universal Orlando Resort is making the following operational changes for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
- On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Universal CityWalk will be open until 2 p.m. and will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. (*Note: Hours of operation are subject to change based on forecast alterations and some attraction and experience availability may be limited on Wednesday as we prepare for an early closure)
- Universal Volcano Bay will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
- Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is canceled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
Universal Orlando anticipates a full reopening, including Halloween Horror Nights, on Friday, Oct. 11 at normal operating hours pending the outcome of storm impacts.
Thursday, 12:45 p.m.: Universal Orlando looks forward to returning to normal operation on Friday, October 11 across all theme parks, CityWalk, and resorts including Halloween Horror Nights as well as Early Admission for hotel guests and premier and preferred Passholders.
Answers to frequent questions
Guests with tickets to visit Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure on Thursday, October 10 – or Universal Volcano Bay on Wednesday, October 9 or Thursday, October 10 – will be able to use their tickets to visit any day through Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Guests won’t need to call or visit Guest Services – they can proceed directly to the entrance gate on the date of their choosing and present their ticket for admission. This also applies to Express Passes.
All dining reservations currently scheduled during the destination’s closure will be canceled. Impacted guests will receive a text message with a rebooking link if they’d like to reschedule their reservation for another date.
Guests with Halloween Horror Nights tickets dated for entry on Wednesday, October 9 or Thursday, October 10 will be able to use their tickets on any one of the remaining nights of the event. Guests won’t need to call or visit Guest Services – they can proceed directly to the entrance gate on the night of their choosing and present their ticket for admission. This also applies to Halloween Horror Nights Express Passes.
Guests with R.I.P. Tour or Unmasking the Horror Tour reservations for Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10 can contact the VIP Experience team at (866) 346-9350 to reschedule their tour. Please note that tour dates are based on availability.
Due to the cancellation of Halloween Horror Nights on 10/9 and 10/10, two new dates – 10/16 and 10/17 – have been added to the list of dates that Premier Passholders can use their free, one-night admission entitlement to Halloween Horror Nights 2024. The complete list of available dates Premier Passholders can use this benefit are: October 16, 17, 18, 20, 27 and 30; and November 1, 2 and 3.
Universal Orlando Resort Hotels
Due to the State of Emergency declaration for Orange County, Universal Orlando’s Severe Weather Policy is in effect. Guests may contact Universal Orlando in advance to reschedule or cancel a Universal Parks & Resorts Vacations Package, hotel room-only accommodations, and Universal Orlando theme park tickets booked directly with Universal Orlando, without any cancellation or change fees imposed.
The hotels remain operational as they focus on taking care of guests.
SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, Aquatica, Discovery Cove

- Tuesday; 12:20 p.m.: SeaWorld Orlando remains OPEN on Tuesday, October 8th. It will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.
- Thursday, 12:45 p.m.: will be OPEN on Friday, October 11th. Spooktacular and Howl-O-Scream events are cancelled for Friday.
- Aquatica Orlando
- Tuesday; 12:20 p.m.: Aquatica Orlando remains OPEN on Tuesday, October 8th. It will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th.
- Thursday, 12:45 p.m.: Aquatica Orlando will be OPEN on Friday, October 11th.
- Discovery Cove
- Tuesday 12:20 p.m.; Discovery Cove remains OPEN on Tuesday, October 8th. It will be CLOSED on Wednesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 10th. The Named Storm Policy is in effect. If emailing, please include your reservation number and “Hurricane rebooking” in the subject line of the email.
- Thursday, 12:45 p.m.: Discovery Cove will be OPEN on Friday, October 11th.
- Busch Gardens
- Monday 4:30 p.m.: Busch Gardens will be closed on Tuesday, October 8; Wednesday, October 9; and Thursday, October 10. Please check social media for updates regarding park opening on Friday, October 11.
- Monday 4:30 p.m.: Howl-O-Scream is canceled for Thursday, October 10. Tickets may be used for any remaining Howl-O-Scream event nights.
- Thursday 5:15 p.m.: Busch Gardens Tampa will be closed Thursday, October 10; Friday, October 11; and Saturday October 12. Howl-O-Scream is cancelled for Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. Howl-O-Scream tickets may be used for any remaining Howl-O-Scream event nights.
All date-intended tickets for closure days have been extended through December 31, 2024, and require no action to be taken.
Legoland Florida

- Monday 4:30 p.m.: LEGOLAND Florida will be closed on Wednesday, October 9 – Thursday, October 10. Hotel operations continue with limited capacity.
- Thursday, 5:15 p.m.: LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park will open tomorrow Friday, October 11, with normal operating hours.
- Monday 4:30 p.m.: Peppa Pig Theme Park will be closed on Tuesday, October 8 – Thursday, October 10. Hotel operations continue with limited capacity.
- Saturday, 9:30 a.m.: Peppa Pig Theme Park is now open and following its normal operating schedule.
