Disneyland Halloween Fun for Everyone in 2024

If you’re heading to Disneyland this fall, get ready for a fun time! The spooky season will swoop into the parks on August 23, 2024, and offerings continue through October 31, 2024. Here’s the rundown on all the Halloween entertainment and seasonal offerings that were announced today.

Festive Seasonal Decor

It feels like this should go without saying, but the parks and resort will be dressed up for the season. The Main Street Pumpkin Festival returns, lining the doorways, porches, and windows of Main Street with both carved and uncarved pumpkins.

Over in Disney California Adventure, you’ll find similar Halloween motifs and touches throughout Buena Vista Street, and when the sun goes down the Headless Horseman will ride.

Mickey, Minnie, and friends will also dress up for the season, with new costumes featuring “skeleton inspirations and colorful patchwork patterns”. Grab a picture with the crew in their Halloween gear.

Halloween Ride Overlays

Just in time for the season, Haunted Mansion is returning as Haunted Mansion Holiday. Work is still underway on the attraction’s queue, so Haunted Mansion Holiday will use a Virtual Queue in 2024.

Over in Disney California Adventure, three attractions will get seasonal overlays. Beginning at twilight, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will become Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. In Cars Land you’ll find that Radiator Springs has become Radiator Screams, with Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transformed into Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

Plaza de la Familia

Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure will once again host Plaza de la Familia, a celebration of the traditions of Día de los Muertos. Enjoy music, decor, festive foods, and live entertainment. References to your favorite characters from Coco can be found throughout Plaza de la Familia. Sing along to your favorites at “A Musical Celebration of Coco”, which will run several times a day. Plaza de la Familia begins with the rest of the seasonal festivities, but runs a few days longer through November 2, 2024.

Entertainment and Activities

Beginning in September, and while supplies last, the whole family can join in Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit, a scavenger hunt activity offered at Downtown Disney District, Disneyland Park, and Disney California Adventure. Purchase an activity map for your chosen location, and set off to find hidden pumpkins themed to Disney characters. Return your completed map for a special keepsake.

At night, choose your park for special entertainment. At the Disney Theater in Disney California Adventure, Mickey’s Trick and Treat show is an interactive not-so-spooky song and dance jam featuring colorful projections, a mad scientist host, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Over at Disneyland Park, you’ll find Halloween Screams, a nighttime spectacular set against Sleeping Beauty Castle with projections and ghostly effects, including fireworks with select performances.

Last but not least, on select nights Disney California Adventure will host the Oogie Boogie Bash hard-ticket event. Tickets’ go on sale to the general public on June 27, 2024, with a limited release to Inspire Magic Key holders on June 25 and all Magic Key holders on June 26. Seasonal Food & Merch

Of course you’ll be able to take home spooky seasonal souvenirs, and snack on some tasty seasonal menus. Full details for Quick Service locations will be released later in the year.

Jennifer has a background in math and biology, so she ended up in Data Science where she gets to do both. She lives just north of Boston with her husband, kids, and assorted animal members of the family. Although it took three visits for the Disney bug to "take", she now really wishes she lived a lot closer to the Parks.

  • Awesome to hear that the Haunted Mansion will be open via Virtual Queue as of Aug 23!

Any news about the opening date for the new gift shop being created at the exit? Will that be open as of Aug 23 too? I love Memento Mori in WDW, would love to be able to visit the new gift shop during our trip at the end of August. But maybe that will still be under construction, like the normal queue?

    • Hi Leslie, no, we haven’t heard anything. Rumors are that it will open with the ride, but there’s nothing firm from Disney.
