Snackability Rankings: Magic Kingdom Lands

Walt Disney World is a snack-lover’s paradise. Whether you prefer your snacks savory or sweet, classic or with a new twist, fresh ingredients or frozen treats, Instagrammable, deconstructed or, well, you get the point… there is something there to tickle everyone’s tastebuds!

And each unique land within WDW comes with its own unique dining options and snacks, some better than others. Over the next few weeks, I will be ranking the lands within each of the 4 WDW theme parks based upon their snackability, starting with the OG, Magic Kingdom.

So what factors should be considered when rating a land’s snackability?

1. Quantity – number of snacks, or snack locations, located within that land
2. Quality – not just having snacks, but having good snacks
3. Variety – having different types of snacks within that land, not just lots of the same thing
4. Uniqueness – classic snack foods are classic for a reason, but having some unique options you won’t find anywhere else is important as well
5. Theming – how well the snacks relate to the theme of that particular land

Based on these considerations, which lands will reign snacking supreme, and which could use a snack-lift? Let’s find out!

 

#1 Fantasyland

This classic fairytale land earns the top spot on our snackability ranking for several reasons. It has the greatest number of snack options of any of the Magic Kingdom lands by far, with a solid variety of savory, sweet, and unique themed items, as well as serving all the classics.

Some favorite specialty items here include Cat Tails (Cheshire Café), cinnamon rolls and Grey Stuff cupcakes (Gaston’s Tavern), and buffalo chicken tater tots (The Friar’s Nook).

You’ll also find all the traditional WDW items like turkey legs and soft pretzels (Prince Eric’s Village Market), caramel apples (Big Top Treats), and soft serve ice cream, including a specialty Dole Whip flavor (Storybook Treats). It really doesn’t get any better than this in terms of having it all in one single land!

#2 Adventureland

Claiming the number 2 spot, what Adventureland lacks in quantity of different snacks and snack locations, it more than makes up for in quality.

As the #1 destination for Dole Whip throughout WDW, Adventureland boasts 2 locations (Aloha Isle and Sunshine Tree Terrace) serving up many different fruity flavors of the tasty treat, both in cup and float form. With so many delicious flavors to choose from, you’re sure to please everyone.

This land is also well-known for their unique twists on egg rolls, featuring pizza, hamburger, and other seasonal varieties of egg rolls at a cart just outside the main entrance. For something new and something iconic, both equally as good, look no further than Adventureland!

#3 Liberty Square

Coming in at #3 is the patriotic Liberty Square, featuring 2 popular snacking locations.

Sleepy Hollow is a fan-favorite for its massive and delicious waffle sandwiches, both savory and sweet, and funnel cakes, while Liberty Square Market features some healthier options like fruit and yogurt. And while you can get the traditional Disney turkey leg at several locations across property, it feels especially thematic here.

Liberty Square definitely has some good variety, and it’s the only place to enjoy those amazing waffle sandwiches!

#4 Main Street, U.S.A.

With several snack options just as you enter the park, and the sweet smell of sugar pulling you in, Main Street is a great place for a treat, but don’t expect anything out of the ordinary.

Main Street Confectionery, Main Street Bakery, and Plaza Ice Cream Parlor carry all the Mickey-shaped treats, pastries, candies, and ice cream you could ask for, and more!

And across the street, Casey’s Corner has the savory side covered with corn dog nuggets and chili cheese fries. It’s all sure to satisfy, but if you’re looking for something more unique, you probably want to keep looking.

#5 Frontierland

When I started this list, I honestly couldn’t think of any snack locations in Frontierland, except Golden Oak Outpost, and their main snack option is chili cheese fries (boring!).

But I ended up discovering another snack spot on the frontier, with some seemingly random but also unique items. Westward Ho serves donut holes in the morning and candied bacon skewers and jalapeno poppers in the afternoon (as well as churros and corn dog nuggets). If you’re hungry in Frontierland, these snacks you can’t find elsewhere might be worth a shot!

#6 Tomorrowland

Coming in last place is Tomorrowland. Apparently, Imagineers can’t figure out what people will eat in the future, so they didn’t even try to get creative with the snacks here.

Everything you can get in Tomorrowland, like soft serve and milkshakes (Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies), soft pretzels (The Lunching Pad), and churros (Cool Ship), you can find many other places throughout WDW as well.

That doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy a snack here. On our recent trip, my husband and I stopped at The Lunching Pad to split a Mickey-shaped pretzel and some Frozen Cokes, and they really hit the spot, but in terms of variety, uniqueness, and theming, Tomorrowland just doesn’t measure up to the other lands.

As a whole, Walt Disney World’s first theme park has some pretty great snack options. While some lands are clearly superior in terms of snackability, you definitely won’t go hungry no matter where you find yourself on your busy day at the Magic Kingdom!
