The Best Drinks in Epic Universe

Epic Universe has some Epic lands, Epic rides, and Epic shows, but did you know it also has some Epic drinks? In this article we’ll cover some of our favorite unique drinks at Epic Universe, from pan-asian tea service to moonshine, tiki bars to burning blades, and more.

Lobe Blaster

Bar Moonshine, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic

This is my favorite drink in any theme park. Period. Universal describes the drink as such:

…A potent mix of moonshine, limoncello, absinthe, lemon juice, club soda, and simple syrup garnished with a rosemary sprig and layered with an émulsion verte.

I have no idea what a verte is (reportedly it’s just a green pigment for the drink) but man this thing is good. The moonshine is there but not the main flavor, instead you’ll find notes of the limoncello and rosemary prominent followed by the bitter absinthe and sweet simple syrup. It’s a well balanced and complex drink that is light enough for a theme park but still packs a punch without being too heavy. This is a must drink for me each trip to Epic, just don’t apparate after drinking two of them.

Waturi Punch

CelesTiki Tiki Bar, Celestial Park

I love a tiki bar. I love the garnishes, I love the swizzle sticks, I love the tropical juices, I love the rum, I love the bitters and flavoring liqueurs, I love the pageantry. Epic Universe’s tiki bar, CelesTiki, has delicious rum drinks with fun garnishes and swizzle sticks that will carry over someone with a Trader Sam’s withdrawal. The Waturi Punch comes courtesy of the residents of Volcano Bay and features overproof rum, tropical juices, honey syrup, and bitters topped with a garnish of mint and dried blood orange. It’s a potent cocktail that’s wroth the price (ask for the regular cup, they always try to upsell you) and a great sipping cocktail while watching the Celestial Park fountains.

Celestial Spritz (NA)

Freestyle Machines throughout Celestial Park

Celestial Park. Coke Freestyle. Celestial Spritz.

We love the Coke Freestyle program at the Universal Parks. These custom machines mix sodas and soft drinks for you in single servings or unlimited service included with souvenir mugs. Throughout the lands at Epic Universe are unique Coke Freestyle flavors, but the guest favorite is the Celestial Spritz, a combination of Seagram’s Ginger Ale, cherry, and orange. This is ironic as Seagram’s used to own the Universal Parks, and there was even a large Seagram’s ad outside of Backwater Bar in Islands of Adventure for many years.

Reaper’s Reserve & Darkthorne Meade

Burning Blade Tavern, Dark Universe

The Burning Blade features several fantastic cocktails, including the Pure of Heart which is a smoked cocktail made with whiskey. But let’s change things up a bit with two unique offerings. The Reaper’s Reserve is an exclusive ale to the Burning Blade. This brown ale is a light ale with lots of malt flavors.

The Darkthorne Mead sits on the other side of the flavor profile with flavors of berries, vanillas, and pepper. This rivals the mead found in Isle of Berk.

And don’t forget to order some of the garlic pretzel stakes or the spicy cheese bites, I’d kill to get some more of them.

The Plastered Owl

Oak & Star Tavern, Celestial Park

The Plastered Owl is both the name of the bar and the drink featured in the Oak & Star Tavern, Celestial Parks’ premier BBQ restaurant. The bourbon and whiskey inspired drinks go perfectly well with the smoky meats and sides on the menu, and the star drink is the Plastered Owl. Made with whiskey, muddled cherries, lemons, and simple syrup; this drink is perfect with a meal or relaxing listening to some live music.

Oak & Star Tavern is my favorite restaurant in the park. I have come here for at least at drink every time I’m in Epic Universe.

Chendu Dream

Blue Dragon, Celestial Park

In the back of Celestial Park, between Helios Grand Hotel and Dark Universe, is Blue Dragon Pan Asian Restaurant. Mixing several styles of Asian cuisine and cooking styles creates a unique menu full of dishes inspired by Japan, China, Korea, and more. Of the drinks on the menu our eyes drifted to the Chendu Dream which uses a Chinese liquor soaked in Sichuan peppers, tropical juices, curaçao, and falernum. It’s a sweet drink, but still well balanced, with a little bit of pepper note thanks to the Sichuan.

Blue Dragon also offers a unique tea service for guests with fresh pots of jasmine, black, and oolong tea.

Blue Dragon has two bars – an outdoor bar and an indoor bar to the right of the entrance. Both are first come first serve.

Spice Route Old Fashioned

Atlantic, Celestial Park

Atlantic, a steak and seafood restaurant, is the star restaurant of Celestial Park. This gorgeous venue sits on the edge of one of the many Celestial lagoons, with the fishbowl-like design reflected in the mechanical fish swimming above the dining area. The menu has many delicious drinks and entrees, but let’s focus on a staff pick.

Our resident old fashioned fan Becky was one of the first to go to the park and got their version:

Music to this old-fashioned fan’s ears. It’s strong. Like, “you might not need a second” strong. The flavor profile hinted at warm spice—maybe cardamom or clove—but leaned more on strength than subtlety.

Don’t feel you need a table to have this drink, there’s a bar upstairs that only servers cocktails you can relax at.
