Walt Disney World Hiring for Cultural Representative Program

When the coronavirus initially hit, Disney furloughed all of the Cast Members that worked at the Walt Disney World Resort, including the international Cast Members that worked in Epcot’s World Showcase, who were then able to potentially return home before all the quarantines officially hit. These international Cast Members helped to make World Showcase unique, as it allowed Guests to learn more about the countries that are represented from people who have first hand knowledge.

So, with the parks reopening, the questions came….would Cast Members from these countries be returning? According to some job listings, they will be!

Disney is currently looking for job applicants to apply for the Cultural Representative Program. According to the ad:

The Cultural Representative Program is a twelve-month work experience located at Walt Disney World® Resort, near Orlando, Florida. Participants have the opportunity to share the unique culture and customs of their country with Guests, while working different front line, guest facing roles. Participants must authentically represent one of the countries or regions we have recreated in look and feel at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Jobs are currently available for Norway, Germany, and Mexico. (The Mexico application is actually due by tomorrow, June 12.)

Right now, those who are representing Norway and Germany are slated to start between August and November 2020 and those who are representing Mexico are slated to start between January and June 2021.

One would expect that cultural representatives will soon be needed for the other countries and I would expect we may see additional job opportunities opening soon.

  • Honestly, the cultural representatives are what make World Showcase. I really hope they are able to bring them back to all the pavilions soon. This news sounds encouraging. Thanks for the update Rikki.

  • Correct, when the parks open in July it won’t be using the cultural representatives. Sounds like from this article they’re hoping to start transitioning them back in around August for some countries. Glad to see it happening!

  • Wait, I thought the news just a week or so ago was that there would NOT be authentic country citizens manning World Showcase.
