Will We Finally Get To Visit Space 220? It Looks Like The Answer Is Yes!

I feel like this is deja vu…..but here we are again. Supposedly we’ll finally be getting the opportunity to dine at Space 220. Don’t know what Space 220 is? Come along with me for a tale.

You see, Space 220 is a table service restaurant that was announced for EPCOT many moons ago. It is located right next door to Mission: SPACE and it is supposed to be one of the most immersive dining experiences. Guests will be able to board space elevators that will “transport” you, 220 miles above the earth to the Centauri Space Station. (I can’t believe I have to say this…you aren’t actually going to space…..but you know, with people like Jeff Bezos traveling there, I feel like I need to add the disclaimer.) As you begin your ascent, you’ll look down through a viewport to see EPCOT shrink away; looking up you’ll see the Space Station come into view.

Anyway, when you get to “space” you’ll be able dine with panoramic views of Earth in this space station themed restaurant. Viewports found inside the restaurant will give you a real-time perspective as you travel high above the planet throughout your meal.

So….why the story? Well Space 220 has been plagued with delay after delay….it’s been rumored to open at least 5 times over the past few years. Numerous things have pushed the opening of this restaurant back from construction issues, to the pandemic, and more.  So….you’ll understand my skepticism when I say – I’ll believe it actually exists when I physically step foot inside. 🙂

I mean, this TikTok does help me realize it actually does exist. And from what they shared, it looks GORGEOUS! I honestly can’t wait to step foot inside and see it in person!

Space 220 will be a fine dining experience. Executive Chef Marc Kusche has created a menu that will feature stellar dishes. There will be a two-course prix fixe menu for lunch, and a three-course prix fixe menu for dinner. There will also be unique beverages ranging from fine wine to atmospheric cocktails and more.

Space 220 will open in September, just in time for the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary and will be operated by the Patina Group.

  • Curious when they’ll open up for reservations! I’ll be at Disney mid-September and would love to snag one, but doesn’t look like they’re available yet (understandably)

  • Sounds very cool! I hope the Touring Plans team will be able to provide us with a review on it before it’s time to make reservations for my trip in December.
