Last-Minute Mother’s Day Dining Reservations at WDW
Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12, 2019, and while I’m sure you haven’t forgotten (right?), perhaps you have been on the fence about making a dining reservation. Good news, if you’re visiting Walt Disney World, is that there are still great options available. This search was performed on Thursday, May 9, for a party of 4. (Standard disclaimer, reservation availability is very fluid and can change as people book or cancel.)
Here’s some picks for options that mom is sure to enjoy:
50s Prime Time Cafe
The quintessential view of an “American mom” is rooted in 1950s sitcoms, so why not fully embrace that experience with a stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for a meal at 50s Prime Time Cafe. With a menu that has a little something for everyone (from fried chicken to meatloaf to pot roast), and an atmosphere and interactivity that will make for great stories for mom to tell for years to come, 50s Prime Time Cafe is a solid choice for a Mother’s Day lunch. I mean, you can’t go wrong with a place where one of the menu items is literally called “A Sampling of Mom’s Favorite Recipes”, right?
Garden Grill
A character dining location may not seem like a top choice for a quiet Mother’s Day, but Garden Grill in the Land Pavilion at Epcot is a hidden gem. The food is good–a family-style meal with beef, turkey, pork, mashed potatoes, vegetables, stuffing, macaroni and cheese, and more. And although this is a character meal, the way the restaurant is set up makes for a much quieter experience than your typical character meal.
Liberty Tree Tavern
Dining in Magic Kingdom may not be your first choice for a relaxing Mother’s Day meal, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by meals at Liberty Tree Tavern. The all you can eat Thanksgiving-style dinner is the most popular choice, but make sure you save plenty of room for dessert. The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is the stuff dreams are made of. (And moms…it’s your day. If you just want to eat dessert for your whole meal, no judging here!)
Sanaa
Bread service. ‘Nuff said. But overall, lunch is a great option at Sanaa because it has the amazing views of animals while you dine and, because it is a resort restaurant, lunch meals tend to be more quiet than dinner. If you’re looking something more unusual for dining options, Sanaa is a great bet.
In addition, for breakfast/brunch reservations, there is currently availability at places like Boma, Olivia’s, and Raglan Road, and for dinner, there’s still availability for Boma, Citricos, Jiko, Monsieur Paul, bluezoo, and more. So if you haven’t made those dining reservations for mother’s day yet, you’re not out of luck–there’s plenty of options available so that mom won’t have to do the cooking on her special day. One other hint: If you aren’t finding what you’re looking for through the MyDisneyExperience app, also try OpenTable, which sometimes has additional reservations for restaurants on Disney property (such as many options at Disney Springs).
Which of these would be your pick for Mother’s Day? Got another suggestion? Let us know in the comments.
