Ask It Results: Going to Flower and Garden in 2018?
Watching other parts of the US dealing with back-to-back monster storms of snow and other wintery ick-ness, it’s hard to say “Spring has sprung!” Even here in Florida, it’s been a little cool around the edges, although it has been wonderful festival weather on the weekends. Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival is a favorite of many, with its fun topiaries, beautiful flower carpets surrounding the water between Future World and World Showcase, variety of special food and drink, and more. With the festival coming back year after year, many people plan special trips down for it, and locals love to make visits on the weekend. But how many people actually are planning to go? Last week, we asked you:
Are you going to visit Epcot for the 2018 International Flower and Garden Festival?
Here’s your results.
Yes (645 votes, 54%)
The people who voted yes were a combination of people who are planning to go to Epcot specifically for Flower and Garden and people who are going to be going to Epcot and just happen to be there for Flower and Garden. What’s great about Flower and Garden, compared with Food and Wine, is that at Food and Wine, you do have to spend extra to have the Food and Wine festival experience. For Flower and Garden, you can experience the festival just wandering around. You don’t have to buy anything extra, plan extra time to see something, or otherwise change your way of visiting–you’ll see topiaries as you wander around, and the splashes of color everywhere are hard to miss. People also mentioned that because there are wonderful food booths, it’s almost a Food and Wine light festival–you can enjoy amazing food but with fewer drunks.

So many festivals, so little time. Even if you’re part of the people who make a trip to WDW every year, you may not have a trip scheduled for the springtime. And let’s face it, there’s plenty of people out there who can’t visit every year. Because Flower and Garden adds beauty to the park, but doesn’t affect the park experience as much as some other festivals or events, I’ve yet to find anyone who will avoid Epcot because Flower and Garden is going on. If you’re not able to make it this year, Angela has you covered with a video up now and more on the way.

A very small percentage of people haven’t decided if they’re going to go for this year. The good news is that the festival has a fairly long run. It will continue through the end of May. My advice, however, is that if you’re going to go, it’s best to go early. The weather gets quite a bit hotter towards May here in Florida, making it less fun to wander around out in the sun and heat. Even the flowers start looking a little rough around the edges towards the end of the festival due to the heat no matter how much they are watered. For the best experience overall, visit early (and visit often). Besides, if you’re stuck somewhere with yet another winter storm rolling through, don’t you wish you were here?
That’s all for this week’s Ask It. Next week’s question is live on Twitter and on the blog here. What’s your favorite part of the Flower and Garden festival experience? Let me know in the comments, and we’ll see you next week!
