7 Ways to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary in Disney World
The July 4th celebrations begin early in Disney World again this year! Here are 7 ways you can celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT…
Ways to Celebrate in the Magic Kingdom

The Flag Retreat in the Magic Kingdom isn’t just for Independence Day, it happens every single day of the year, but it feels important enough to include in this list. Each day at 5:00pm the American flag at the front of Main Street is lowered and folded. This ceremony includes the Pledge of Allegiance and a few patriotic songs often led by the Dapper Dans. A Veteran or active duty Service Member is chosen by Disney to participate in this moving ceremony.

The July 4th fireworks in the Magic Kingdom run July 3, 4, and 5. Happily Ever After will not run on these nights. Now let’s head to EPCOT for full schedule of patriotic fun.
Ways to Celebrate in EPCOT

The Voices of Liberty always provide an excellent show, but their July 4th performances are extra special. They’ll sing special patriotic songs in the center of the rotunda 7 times a day and 8 on July 4th. Check your My Disney Experience or TouringPlans Lines app for showtimes.

Twenty nine minutes of Disney’s version of American History and some true musical treats. A few lines of “Two Brothers” or “Golden Dream” should have you feeling all emo when you exit.

Keep an eye out when you exit The American Adventure. Mickey, Goofy, and Pluto have appeared under the covered shelter near the Kidcot Fun Stop and restroom area for the last few years. We found Chip and Dale near the American Gardens Theatre last year.

This special version of Soarin’ is a patriotic flight over some of America’s most famous landmarks. You can read (and watch) Len’s review of this ride here.

EPCOT adds the “Heartbeat of Freedom” tag to the nightly Luminous show on July 3, 4, and 5.

Red, white, and blue clothing, ears, bags, and treats can be found in EPCOT, too. The photo above was taken last week, but there will be lots of American flag merch available closer to the 4th, too.
Are you headed to Disney World for the 4th this year? What’s on your agenda?
