Live from the Disney Dream: Day 3

In Florida, everyone’s keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Fred to see where it ends up impacting the state. Meanwhile, on the Disney Dream, the seas are like sailing on a mirror. It’s absolutely calm waters which made it easy to dock at Castaway Cay. Here’s some of what we saw in the morning of our first day at Castaway Cay.

I think everyone wants to know if the dredging was completed in front of the Family beach cabanas and on Serenity. Serenity had taken some bad wallops and it was very narrow.

Once they get back stateside, I’m going to pull photos from the past decade and compare where it is at today. It certainly is not back to the same size of beach as it was when I first sailed there in 2012!

Are their any anticipated conflicts with Storm Fred? My kids are on the Dream, and I’m worried about them. Thank you.

They had a thunderstorm for about an hour or so this morning, and it’s been raining on and off today, but that’s all blown through and it should be smooth sailing back to the port tonight. Right now, the storm is about 300 miles away from the Bahamas, and according to the National Hurricane Center, the earliest possible time tropical storm winds could possibly arrive at Port Canaveral would be 8 PM on Saturday. (Fred is expected to go along the west coast of Florida, and so at worst the WDW area may see light rain.)

How well did the virtual queue to get off the ship work? For Cookies and other food/beverage offerings, did CMs serve you or were people serving themselves? Was Castaway essentially mask free because you’re outside? Then some of the stores have inside/covered components so I’m not sure if that be considered “indoors” or not…

Thank you for your updates! We’ve sailed numerous times and are curious about the COVID things and other changes in the DCL experience.
