Loungefly Bag Roundup
During my recent trip to Walt Disney World, I was struck by the wide variety of designs on the many Loungefly backpacks available in the parks. The backpacks are priced in the $65-80 range for most styles. This price point is at least $100 lower per bag than the Dooney & Bourke purses, making them popular for those wanting to show their Disney spirit on a budget. I even saw several children and young teens sporting these bags in the parks, something that never happens with the Dooney, Kate Spade, or Coach Disney-themed bags.
Which one, or ones, would you choose?
Ah …I spent soooo long looking at these while my 2 daughters decided which ones they wanted? 🙂
We ended up with one Marvel one (actually that was a relatively quick decision for daughter 2) and the dark blue ‘foods’ one.
There was also another available which we saw early in our trip but by the end of the 2 weeks, when daughter one had finally made up her mind it was the one she wanted, it had sold out. It was white with different coloured Mickeys on it.
We recently returned from WDW, and I was amazed at how mesmerized my DD9 was with these. I think she first saw older girls wearing them, and then she got swept into the spirit of seeing all the different kinds at the different stores. Near the end of the week, she fell in love with one she found at Animal Kingdom. It had a black leopard pattern with hidden Mickeys, and a round Mickey-shaped head with leopard pattern hanging from a zipper. Interestingly, it was not Loungefly branded, but very much in the style. It seemed to be a Disney Parks spin-off. Bonus for her parents: it was cheaper than most we looked at. So we got it. She is very pleased with it.
My favorites are the castle bag and the one with iridescent Mickeys. But the only one I’ve truly considered buying myself is the purple Haunted Mansion bag. Disney people get the HM tie-in, but I feel like most people would only see a purple and black design. The others I like but would only use on a Disney trip, and sadly we don’t go on enough of those to justify the purchase.
Disappointed in the quality of the Loungefly bag, and both Loungefly’s and Disney’s response to the issue we are having. Purchased the Dole Whip bag for our youngest in April. She used it on our August trip for the first time. Within 3-4 days the black color started to wear off around the edges of the bag, turning white. We were a little surprised that they didn’t actually use black background color was only on the surface and not throughout the leather. We inquired at the Emporium and they indicated that Disney’s return policy is only 30 days and we’d have to go back to Loungefly. We contacted Loungefly and have yet to receive a reply, something that apparently is common based on other complaints we’ve seen online. We also reached out to Disney about the issue and lack of response from their licensee. They asked for more information, and thanked us for bringing it to their attention. We expected more from a product sold by Disney, especially at the price point of this bag.
I love these bags but the fact that on most the front pouch isn’t big enough to hold my plus sized iphone kept me from purchasing one.
Absolutely love my loungefly bag! I purchased the purple haunted mansion bag and it’s cool since only true Disney fans have recognised that it is actually a Disney themed bag. Not that I don’t like having Disney themed clothing, but it is cool to have something Disney that isn’t so in your face if that makes sense. I feel like I would use the bag less if I picked – for instance – the castle bag. It is a nice size for me to, since I love using small back packs!
Do you have any info at all on the one between the Marvel one and dark blue foods one? My mom is searching for it and I have absolutely no idea what the pattern may be called to try and track it down. Thanks!
