Welcome to the latest edition of The Magic, The Memories, and Merch! the longest running monthly look at the Disney Outlet Stores in Orlando. Outlet Intern Julia Mascardo (when she’s not enjoying a Disney luau in the rain) and I had a pretty interesting month. Somehow even MORE items made it over from Shanghai Disneyland, some neat Festival of Arts pins arrived, and we also go the biggest shirt we’ve EVER seen at the Outlets.

Ready to see what we we found? Alright, let’s go!

Let’s start off with a bunch of items directly from Shanghai Disneyland. We’re almost at the point now where I’m wondering if that park sold even a single piece of merchandise during its first year. I mean it’s one thing for Guy Selga and the rest of his ilk from out in California not to buy any of those Disneyland 60th items that all came to the Outlet – because most of those were not that impressive and besides they have to spend hours in line to buy popcorn buckets anyway – but many of these items from Shanghai look pretty decent.

First up is this notebook, one which honors the Grand Opening of the park. It actually had a ton of pages and was reduced to just $2.99.

I’ve often used this fine blog series to rail against Vinylmation, but when it’s used for Mickey Mouse the designs look great. This one came with a “free” Mickey, and inside the blind box was either Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip or Dale. This was $6.99, and I picked up one.

As you can see, I got Chip.

Next up is an Adventure Isle Bath Set. How awesome is this?! I wish we had stuff like this for specific lands at WDW. Imagine the cool ones you could have for Asia in Animal Kingdom, Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom, or just the Tower of Terror at DHS. It would be awesome. Set was reduced to $9.99 and of course I bought one of these.

As a side note, here’s a quick story that gives you a brief glimpse into the insanity that is my Outlet Life. There are some times at the outlets when taking a picture of an item becomes near impossible because how busy the store can get. If I’m going to buy the item, I just take the picture at home, like the Adventure Isle bath set above. Well, while grabbing the Adventure Isle set out of the bag, I saw that I actually bought one of those Shanghai Disneyland Grand Opening notebooks from above, something I did not remember buying at all. There is a slight chance I may have “a condition.” Look for me on A&E TV’s new season of Hoarders.

Anyway, here are some more bonkers looking Hot Wheels-like racers. Very rare to see Oswald the Lucky Rabbit items at the Outlet. Each were $2.99.

Here is a Buzz Lightyear magnet. Not sure what that thing is on his chin. I thought it might have referenced when he was switched over to Spanish Buzz in Toy Story 3, but I don’t think that is it. Was reduced to $1.99.

I’ve once seen a coffee cup at the Outlets with a spike in the handle, but this is the first time I’ve seen a pen covered in them. This must be extremely comfortable to write with. Reduced to $2.99.

These Minnie Mouse feather pens lit up. Also reduced to $2.99.

We don’t get too many snow globes at the Outlets, but here is an interesting one featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Pluto. Reduced to $15.99.

We saw some of these photo frames from Shanghai last month that used Jack Sparrow and Buzz Lightyear as the figures. Here’s a family one which has spots for a Dad, Mom, and daughter. I do like that the princess is holding Figaro the cat. Reduced to $7.99.

Zurg plush. Reduced to $5.99. Pretty good size.

Reminder we are still in items that came from Shanghai Disneyland. Next up is a Toy Story Action Figure featuring Bullseye. Reduced to $4.99.

Lion King figurine set. This is exactly like the ones we sell in the American parks. Reduced to $7.99.

Last month we saw Pirates of the Caribbean and Duffy the Bear versions of this “play mat tote,” and this month we have Stitch. Apparently they unfold and you use them as a play area for the enclosed figurine. Reduced to $6.99.

This set contained four separate jigsaw puzzles. I think to make it even harder they should just put all four designs lumped in one big pile in the box. Reduced to $9.99.

Jack Sparrow plush doll. Reduced to $7.99.

This monkey plush was made for the Born in China movie, which is part of the Disney Nature program (each year Disney makes an environmental based movie that somehow does worse business than John Carter.) Plush was reduced to $7.99.

There was a bunch of character keychains, including this one featuring Donald Duck.

These “character block” keychains seem like they are designed for very little kids, who probably shouldn’t play with sets of keys (unless you’re Creed Bratton on The Office.) Each was reduced to $2.99 and had a variety of characters available, including Mickey as Jack Sparrow.

These block one featured the English letter blocks for some of the classic characters. Also $2.99 each.

Take your pick on Disney themed hair accessories. The perfect accoutrement for any Dapper Day (I think I’m using that word right. I’m also using it extremely sarcastically, and I know that’s the correct use.)

I kind of regretted not picking up one of these Shanghai Disneyland Grand Opening umbrellas. For some reason it had a limit posted of “10 per day, per guest” which I think is the limit for every item in the store now. If it’s not this actually makes no sense whatsoever because even the eBay pirates weren’t scooping this up. It folded up pretty small, and would have been good to keep in a backpack for trips to the parks.

Here’s another umbrella from Shanghai featuring Mickey Mouse from throughout the years. This umbrella only cost $3.99.

Beauty & Beast tea set featuring Mrs. Potts and Chip. Reduced to $14.99. Would have got this for the kiddos for our family, except a couple years ago we got a similar set that also included a push cart serving tray.

I actually did get one of these “Lady” pillows because we recently watched Lady and the Tramp and the straight to DVD sequel, Scamp’s Adventure. Our kiddos found the classic film “boring” and the cash grab follow up much better, so I gave them two weeks in the the “hot box” with only water and vitamin supplements to rethink their reviews. Child Protective Services will understand. The pillow was $9.99.

Picked up this Minnie Mouse sipper for a new baby girl that came into our family up in New Hampshire earlier this month. Reduced to $2.99.

This cute Monsters Inc coffee cup set was reduced to $7.99. If I drank coffee I probably would have bit on this one.

Next up from Shanghai, this tumbler featuring colorful caroussel horses. Reduced to $1.99.

And FINALLY, our last item from Shanghai Disneyland this month is a coffee cup featuring Cinderella. Like pretty much all coffee cups it was reduced to $5.99.

Cup with Minnie Mouse in an art style I don’t completely understand as they don’t use this style for any other character (that I’ve seen.) Originally $12.99, now $5.99.

A whole bunch of items of items themed to “Be Our Guest” came out a couple years ago, with pretty much all of them making it to the Outlets. The latest one is this coffee cup. The style is way too “busy” for my tastes. Reduced to $5.99.

Darth Vader coffee cup. Originally an insane $19.99, reduced to $5.99.

About a year ago several of these Star Wars play sets came out where it was a bunch of small toys in a self contained case. I didn’t pay much attention to them when they were released, but i thought they were something you added your own sand too for the “Tatooine” set and your own snow for the “Hoth” set. Well the “Jakku” set came to the Outlets and the sets come with their own “compound sand” which makes a lot more sense. Originally $29.95, these were reduced to $14.99.

Always love seeing these high end Star Wars action figures make their way to the Outlets. Until the prequels burned out a large part of my love for Star Wars, I collected action figures with the best of us, but these figures retailed for $29.99 each. Now that adds up. Even at the reduced price of $19.99 is pretty crazy in my book. THAT SAID, if these were out in the late 90s and were a Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike, I would have bought a dozen.

For some reason this droid was marked down to $14.99, even though it had the same original $29.99 price as the Stormtrooper.

I am now of the belief that EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts is hands-down the best festival in the park, and it’s not even close. These pins featuring Figment were all reduced to $1.99. Can’t beat that.

Up next was a whole bunch of Minnie Mouse themed headbands. Each one was $24.99 but the original price couldn’t have been much more than that, could it? Options included: Animal Print, Blue/White Glitz, Purple Satin Bow, Pink Satin Bow Glitz and Red Satin Bow.

Olaf Earhat. Originally $17.95, reduced to $4.99.

I’ve said before that the greatest joy of my life is seeing items from Pandora: The World of Avatar hit the Outlets, and the lastest one is this hat for kids. Originally $19.99, now $4.99. Bought one.

Hat featuring Marvel comic book characters drawn by – I believe – Jack Kirby. Originally $21.99, now $4.99.

Tower of Terror hat for kids. Reduced to $7.99.

Not sure if this is a Minnie Mouse “Ugly Sweater” hat for Christmas, or just a Minnie Mouse hat with a bunch of weird designs on the lid Reduced to $7.99.

Like the Shanghai notebook above, this Avengers notebook had a shockingly huge amount of pages in it. Age of Ultron also came out 3 years ago, so I wonder what warehouse these were sitting in this whole time. Reduced to $4.99.

This Thor hammer had sounds, so it was heavier than the average dense foam one you can find at Target/Walmart/Etc. Originally $24.99, now $12.99

Pair of kissing otters from Finding Dory. Reduced to $9.99. Now I loved Finding Nemo. Loved it. And I loved a lot about Finding Dory. However, I found the whole sequence at the end involving Hank driving the truck and the Otters distracting the actual humans so implausible it took me completely out of the movie. I may be alone on the island on that one, but there’s only so far I can suspend my disbelief.

Here come several sets of MagicBandits. These were reduced to $1.99. First up is some sets featuring some famous dogs and cats from the Disney film vault.

On the left is Magic Kingdom attractions, while on the right is Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. I got the Attractions one solely for the Splash Mountain one.

And here’s a couple featuring kids from its a small world.

Our family has bought pretty much every version of Disney bath toys ever made. Our kiddos call them “Squishies.” Here is the set for Little Mermaid. Reduced to $7.99.

This is a very nicely detailed Tangled “Journal Play set” with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Originally $22.99, now $9.99. The journal is what holds the toys.

Alright, time for some shirts. First up is a great one from the Disney Cruise Line with Donald Duck. “Swab the Duck.” The ratio of hit-to-miss items on Disney Cruise Line blows away the stuff we get at regular stores. They do a tremendous job. This shirt was originally $24.99, now $9.99.

Castaway Cay shirt. Originally $21.95, now $6.99.

Disney recently announced that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in DHS in “late Fall 2019.” Keep in mind they announced the opening day for Rivers of Light and missed it by about 9 months. So maybe leave some wiggle room in your schedule. Here’s a shirt to commemorate the Animal Kingdom nighttime show. Originally $19.99, now $9.99.

I’m actually okay with this Toy Story Green Alien shirt. Originally $19.99,  now $7.99. Odd to have it at the Outlets when a ride featuring this character opens next month and these shirts would probably fly out the door at full retail.

Fun mashup featuring the T-Rex from Toy Story and the Haunted Mansion. Originally $24.99, now $9.99.

The picture of this next t-shirt do not do it justice. This was the LONGEST t-shirt I’ve ever seen at the Outlets. It was so long it could almost count as full length pajamas. Each shirt was $5.99, but it was only available in sizes I have never seen, 4XL and 5XL.

Some retro themed Mickey wear. These both look great. The long sleeve on the left was originally $44.99, reduced to $19.99, while the “nu wave” shirt on the right was originally $32.99, reduced to $9.99.

Not much new Christmas stuff this month, but there was a light up Mickey Mouse lanyard. Reduced to $4.99.

We’ll close out with another rare item, a H20 spa product. A lot of Disney guests swear by the H20 line, and this was a rare chance to get it at the Outlets. Originally $20.99, now $11.99

I actually do want to mention one thing before I go. Regular readers of my work here at TouringPlans have probably been introduced to my dog Sebastian.

Last year we took Sebastian to Disney’s Yacht Club, and some of you may remember him from our MagicBand article back in the day. Well, we recently had a traumatic experience with this treasured dog, and as you read this he is currently in a hyperbaric chamber hoping to get better. We have had him in our lives for 17 1/2 years, and he has been a bright bit of sunshine in our lives If you have a spare good thought, please have one for a first ballot Hall of Famer pup.

There are actually two Disney outlet stores in Orlando. Both are in Orlando Premium Outlet shopping complexes, and they are called Disney’s Character Warehouse, presumably because The Land Of Misfit Toys was already trademarked. There is one Character Warehouse located on International Drive close to Universal Studios (4951 International Dr, Orlando, FL 32819), and the other is on Vineland Avenue, right across I-4 near the exits to Disney World (8200 Vineland Ave, Orlando, FL 32821). They do not ship. There are items at the Outlets that you can buy both in Disney stores along with the Shop Disney Parks app, but you will be paying full retail for the items.
