My Disney Experience App Sees Redesign

My Disney Experience For those of you planning your summer Walt Disney World vacations, you’ll want to make sure you download (or update) to the newly redesigned My Disney Experience app!

With the updated My Disney Experience app, Guests will still be able to experience all things Disney. So you can still access FastPass+ information, wait times, dining information, PhotoPass photos, maps, merchandise, and more, but it’s all so much more spelled out. The app now opens to the park maps to help guests find attractions, restaurants, restrooms things easier.

The app now also has a new feature called “My Resort Dashboard.” This helps Guests who may be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel access their reservation details all in one place. My Resort Dashboard gives directions to the resort, a map showing the location of a Guest’s room (once you know what it is) and a link to directly call the Resort Front Desk.

There’s also the new “Spotlight” section in the My Disney Experience app, which highlights new park experiences and entertainment offerings.

Take a look at what the new app has in store for Guests.

In looking at the app at first glance, it immediately has a different feel. The design is certainly more streamlined. It’s easy to check all of your vacation details all in one place. I really do like that you can see your resort information now too. It makes it so much easier, especially because I often forget my actual room number and previously would always have to take a picture to remember.

I also like that all of my information is in one easy to view spot. Now I can see what my dining reservations, FastPass+ reservations, and hotel reservations are right in one area!

I especially like that the app now tells you where PhotoPass photographers are. Since I have an Annual Pass and have Memory Maker included with it, I am constantly stopping to get my photo taken. This guide is going to be so helpful!

At the top, you can scroll through really easily to see exactly what you are looking for. So whether it’s wait times, characters, restroom locations, events, or more, it’s quite simple to access.

Overall, it seems like a very clean update. I hope it isn’t as buggy as the last iteration, as I constantly had issues where it would freeze up or not allow me to see what I was actually looking at. I’m also hoping that the simpler design will make it move a little faster. (This was all especially problematic when I was trying to make additional FastPasses while in the park.)

I’m really anxious to see how this updated My Disney Experience app actually works out when I’m visiting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Well, I went and looked at it and my initial feelings are mixed. The app does seem to be designed to be handier to use and to get from one spot in it to another quickly. That’s good. Unfortunately in just a few minutes of playing with it I have found myself unable to exit from a screen more than once. The first time the app appeared to freeze so I just closed it and opened it up again, which seemed to do the job. The second time I went looking for guest services locations in Epcot, but it took me to a page where the swipe down arrow was apparently not working, so now I’m stuck looking only at that. I’ve closed it and reopened it a couple of times to see if it would reboot to a title page, but so far no luck.

    This version still has bugs.

I was there at the beginning of March and this is how the app looked. I was disappointed that it froze several times once for a couple of hours. I’m curious to know if it works better on some phones. My galaxy 7 had problems the whole trip but my husband’s Turbo didn’t have any issues.

Android had had this update for months now. I think they got it back in October. It’s iOS that has it new today. My guess is that they used Android users as the “test” to get user feedback before the big iOS release.

I wish these apps were available to overseas guests. Even though we are not the big market of the US, access would be great.

Hi, just to say I’m not sure where you are but I’m in the uk and I can use My Disney Experience (and the new version) just fine? There are just a few things I can’t get (Disney planning dvds, access to the Disney finances planning site, various Disney credit cards) but the app works just fine! Hope that helps?

With Walt Disney world and Epcot being next to each other Disney guest should be able to select fast pass for both parks.
It would be great if you were able to booked at least 10 fast passes for either park.
Please make this possible, so families enjoy more of your attractions.
    Thank you.

I think that you are confused. Disney World is not a park, it IS the four parks. Epcot IS in Disney World. 2nd, this blog is just a site that gives great information, but they have zero decision making abilities at Disney. Finally, giving everyone 10 preplanned fast pass+ reservations each day would be a disaster, and most people would not get any.

Splendid, April Fool’s joke. Good for a raucous laugh.

      “10 fast passes”, lol.

The app now looks identical to how the Disneyland app has looked for awhile. With this recent update, there was a DL app update at the same time. I wonder if it just made more sense for Disney to have a single set of code that they could use for both resorts ?

I have a droid phone and the app doesn’t work at all for droid phones. An error message appears “Your device isn’t compatible with this version”. I called 3 weeks ago to complain and was told it would be fixed in a week. It wasn’t I called again. Was told that they can’t get the droid version working. A told them I was planning a trip to Disney and wanted to know when it was going to be working. He actually told me to check to see if anyone in my party has an Iphone to use. I’m thinking about cancelling my trip. This is nuts.

App works fine on my Android phone running Lollipop (5.0.1). It no longer works on my tablet, which runs Kitkat, 4.something. So much for “all” mobile devices.

So disappointed with this update. Looks cool but could not get it to open on my iPhone. Tried reinstalling multiple times and it still crashes instantly on opening. We just finished a 10 day trip – app worked great the first week but these last few days wouldn’t work at all- sooo frustrating

We were in the parks this weekend when the update came through. I was a little freaked out when I opened it up and got a completely different app than I had the night before. That said, it really worked out well for us.

The only improvement I would make would be to make it a little more location aware. It’s great to have Wait Times right in front of you when you open the app, but you have to repeatedly click to zoom into to your location. The app obviously knows where I am, I wish the default would be to show the park I’m in currently. Then if I want to look at wait times in another park, that’s when it would make sense to zoom out or scroll over.
