Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland Rolling With Virtual Queue
Today, the Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye opened at Disneyland with a surprising feature. The option to join a virtual queue boarding group. The reason behind this addition is to help temporarily manage queue capacity thanks to the current California theme park guidelines. So, if you are visiting the park and want to ride this attraction, here’s how the process to join the virtual queue works.
To enter, Guests will need to open the Disneyland app. From there, you can click on the option to “Join a Boarding Group” on the main screen, or under your profile, via the “Virtual Queues” section. From there, you can join a boarding group by tapping on the “Join” link.

You’ll see this option which mostly pertains to getting the opportunity to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. That part tripped me up at first. (And it may be temporary if more attractions get added to the virtual queue system.) But, if you click “Continue” you’ll see that the option for Indiana Jones will pop up.

Ta-da! Here you go! As you can see, Indiana Jones Adventure is now listed alongside Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. If there is the ability to join the queue, there will be a button that will pop up that will then allow you to do so.

Once in the virtual queue, you’ll be given an estimated wait and your group number. You’ll also see which group is currently being called back. For those who do manage to join the virtual queue, you’ll be sent a push notification with a return time….or that your group didn’t make it and you won’t be able to experience the attraction.
When the park isn’t as busy (say in the mornings) the attraction may still offer a regular standby queue. The virtual queue will only be offered when the standby queue is full.
It will be interesting to see how the virtual queue process works for Indiana Jones Adventure, as well as if the Boarding Group option will be added to additional attractions at Disneyland as more attractions have the ability to open.
Hopefully this list will grow to include Pirates and/or Haunted Mansion, as those two overflow queues completely overtake New Orleans Square in the busier afternoon hours (once all the hoppers can come over from DCA).
