Where to Rent Wheelchairs or ECVs at Disneyland

Need a wheelchair or ECV at Disneyland Resort? Disney provides convenient on-site rental for mobility devices that can be used in Disneyland, Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney. In this post we’ll show you where you can rent them and how much they cost.

Rental wheelchairs are available just outside and to the right of Disneyland’s main gate. Daily wheelchair rentals are $15 (manual) or $60 (electric ECV) and require a $20 refundable deposit.

After making your payment at the Strollers & Wheelchairs desk, go over to the Convenience Vehicles area to the right. Here you’ll show a Disneyland Resort cast member your paperwork and they’ll give you the keys to your ECV or provide you your wheelchair.

Disneyland Resorts standard ECV is the same as the models available for rent in Walt Disney World.

Here’s a look at the control panel. Note that the maximum rider weight is 500 pounds. Also, Disneyland Resort cast members will usually enforce a one rider per a ECV rule.

Bringing Your Own Wheelchair or ECV

Parking trams can accommodate guests who bring their own wheelchairs, and a special transportation van is also available (ask a parking lot cast member). Curbside drop-off is only available at the Harbor Boulevard entrance, near the stops for hotel shuttles and local buses. It may be challenging for disabled guests who don’t bring their own wheelchairs to walk from there into the parks. If you don’t think that you can travel the necessary distance, consider renting a chair or scooter for the length of your vacation from a third-party vendor like Apple Scooter (applescooter.com, 714-747-6177) who can deliver it to your hotel for a three-day rental for about $85.

Wheelchairs and ECVs on Rides

Most rides, shows, attractions, restrooms, and restaurants are engineered to accommodate the disabled. Some attraction ride vehicles can accommodate manual wheelchairs, but the majority require guests to transfer from their chair on their own power or with the help of their party; Disney employees provide portable benches but are not permitted to physically assist. Many shows and walk-through attractions can accommodate ECVs, but most rides cannot; manual wheelchairs are provided for transfers where required.
