Rogers: the Musical Will Use a Virtual Queue, and Other Details
Rogers: the Musical is an all-new stage show with daring tales of derring-do featuring favorite Marvel characters including – of course – Captain America himself. This limited-run attraction will open on June 30th and close on August 31st. Here’s everything you need to know if you’d like to catch it while you’re at Disney’s California Adventure.
There’s a Virtual Queue
… and it’s highly recommended that you use it. The show schedule hasn’t been released, other than to say “several times a day, Tuesday through Saturday”. But Disney has announced that the queue will open for the first two shows of the day at 10:30 a.m., and a second time at 2 p.m. for the remaining shows. When you use the Virtual Queue, you will not get to select which showing you’ll see. Limited amounts of seating for each show may be available from a standby line, but this is not guaranteed.
To view the process for joining, see Step-By-Step Guide For How To Get a World of Color Virtual Queue Spot. Obviously the attraction is different, but the workflow should be very similar. The Virtual Queue for Rogers: the Musical is an entertainment Virtual Queue and not an attraction Virtual Queue (see: Answering All Your Questions About Virtual Queues), which is important because you can be in two entertainment queues at one time. That means you can be in the Virtual Queue for Rogers: the Musical and the Virtual Queue for World of Color at the same time.
It’s Musical Theater For All Audiences
… and not just those who love Super Heroes. Or so Disney claims, anyway. It’s got “themes of heroism, romance, and self-discovery”, supported by an “eclectic array of musical styles” and original choreography. Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter, Nick Fury, and select members of the Avengers will dance and sing their way through five all-new songs, plus selections from the Avengers catalog like “Save the City” (Hawkeye on Disney+) and “Star Spangled Man” (from Captain America: The First Avenger).
There’s Limited-time Food
What’s a trip to the theater without concessions? Vending carts outside the Hyperion Theater will have a “Rogers: The Musical” popcorn bucket that comes filled with red, white, and blue kettle corn. A Premium Viewing Experience package will be available from the Studio Catering Co. Truck in Hollywood Land. Available in limited quantities per performance, the package includes a “Rogers: The Musical” popcorn bucket with kettle corn and choice of bottled beverage, plus access to lounge seating before the show, priority choice of seating in the theater, a souvenir lanyard and access to a unique photo opportunity.
If you’re not planning to see the show, you can feast on patriotically-themed treats available elsewhere in the park. Look for the cherry, vanilla, and blue raspberry shake; the sausage and pepperoni wrap; and the pastrami pretzel dog.
… and Merchandise
Gustatory delights (that’s food, for those of you who weren’t studying for the SATs today) last but a moment in time, but merch is forever. T-shirts, magnets, ornaments: the usual selection of commemorative souvenirs will be available for purchase. If photos are your favorites, there will be two limited-time Magic Shots available from Disney’s PhotoPass service.
