Star Wars Tour de Fourth: A May the 4th Touring Plan

On May the 4th, we celebrate all things Star Wars. It’s a great day for a Star Wars-focused touring plan at Disneyland or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Spoiler alert: this itinerary will be just as loaded with Star Wars if you visit on any other day of the year!

The May the Fourth Touring Plan for Hollywood Studios at Disney World is just ahead. If you’re visiting Disneyland, click here to jump to the Disneyland version. For either one, you’ll need a park reservation for the day of your visit.

Hollywood Studios May the Fourth Star Wars Touring Plan

Note: this plan aims for two rides on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (one with an Individual Lightning Lane) and at least two rides on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. For much of the year Florida is hot, so Star Tours and Star Wars: Launch Bay should offer an air-conditioned respite in the hottest part of the afternoon. If it’s not hot when you visit, feel free to swap these steps around with the outdoor steps in the late morning or early evening.

Step 1: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Individual Lightning Lane

At 7 a.m., get an Individual Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance. If you’re not staying on property, get your ILL as soon as the park opens. You’ll also plan to ride Rise using the standby queue, giving you two rides today!

Step 2: Ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance using the Standby Line

Plan to arrive at the park as close to opening as possible. If you’re eligible for Early Entry, arrive 30 minutes before opening and follow Cast Member directions to get in line for Rise of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge.
Note: it’s quite possible that Rise will not be operating at park opening. If that’s the case, skip to step 2 and come back later if the line is short.

Step 3: Ride Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run

Smuggler’s Run has a single-rider line, but it skips the pre-show. For this first ride the line should still be reasonably short, so take in the pre-show — especially if it’s your first time in Galaxy’s Edge.

Step 4: Fuel up with a snack

If you had a light breakfast you might be feeling peckish. Collect some blue milk (or green!) from the Milk Stand and grab a snack from Kat Saka’s Kettle.

Step 5: Play games and soak up the atmosphere

Spend the rest of the morning exploring Galaxy’s Edge. Do a little shopping at the Droid Depot or Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, play the Datapad game in the Play Disney Parks app, and if you have a MagicBand+ you can haul in a few bounties playing Batuu Bounty Hunters. When characters appear, pause for a few moments and watch the show.

Step 6: Lunch at Ronto Roasters

Grab a Ronto Wrap at Ronto Roasters at about 1 p.m. To save time, Ronto Roasters does accept mobile orders via the My Disney Experience app, although our testing found that the standby line is pretty zippy too!

Step 7: Ride Star Tours

Depart from Batuu to Echo Lake to ride Star Tours, the original Star Wars ride in Hollywood Studios. If you didn’t have an appointment at Savi’s Workshop, or you didn’t feel like spending $200+ for the experience, consider building a lightsaber at Tatooine Traders.

Step 8: Star Wars Launch Bay

Venture farther afield to Animation Courtyard and see the exhibits in Star Wars Launch Bay. Do the Meet & Greet(s). Currently Chewbacca is meeting here, you may also find Darth Vader or BB-8.

Step 9: Return to Batuu

Return to Batuu, and ride Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Use the standby line (if you can find a full crew of six, you can try to activate Chewie mode), or use the single-rider line if you’d prefer and your party doesn’t mind being split up. Optional: on your way back to Batuu, ride Star Tours a couple more times — it’s different every time.

Spend your remaining time until dinner taking in the atmosphere and playing the games. Ride the Falcon a few more times if you’d like, or take a third turn through Rise if the line isn’t too long.

An alternate option is to head back to your hotel for a rest break, then return for dinner in Step 10 and do the Step 9 activities in the evening.

Step 10: Dinner at Docking Bay 7

Grab dinner at Docking Bay 7 before closing out your day.

Note: this plan aims for two rides on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (one with an Individual Lightning Lane) and at least two rides on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Galaxy’s Edge is not open during Early Entry at Disneyland, but if you’re eligible and it’s the correct day you can do the Star Tours and Hyperspace Mountain steps during Early Entry. Star Wars: Launch Bay is currently closed at Disneyland, but if it’s open when you visit you can add it in.

Step 1: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Individual Lightning Lane

Keep an eye on the return times for Rise and get an ILL for a time that feels convenient for you. You’ll also plan to ride Rise using the standby queue, giving you two rides today!

Note: Hyperspace Mountain is typically only available during May at Disneyland. If you’re visiting at another time of the year, you can either ride Space Mountain or skip this step.
