When to Visit

Magic Kingdom is Disney's most popular park all year round, so it can be tough to figure out when is the best time to go. Luckily, that is what TouringPlans does, and we do it well!

We monitor wait times at Magic Kingdom every day of the year. Check the Crowd Calendar to see what wait times will be like on the day of your visit. Crowd Levels vary a lot depending on when you choose to go. We update our wait time forecasts regularly, too, so make sure you track dates to be notified when crowd levels change.

Special Events at Magic Kingdom

Throughout the year, Magic Kingdom hosts many Special Events that can be fun, plus some that need to be avoided if you don’t like crowded theme parks. After you choose which week to visit, you still need to know what’s going on at the park to make sure you’re ready for the magic.

Fall at Magic Kingdom is 'party' season. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a spooktacular evening event that requires a separate ticket in early fall. Once November arrives the theme switches to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Similar party – different decorations – just as fun!

Magic Kingdom Dining Tips

Before you begin eating your way through Magic Kingdom, you need to know:

Magic Kingdom table service restaurants are extremely popular, and many of them book up with Dining Reservations months in advance. If you want a quick-service meal, or you want to sit down and be waited on for lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant, read our content on Dining Reservations.
Lines at Magic Kingdom counter service restaurants can become massive at peak lunch (12:30 PM) and dinner (6:30 PM) dining times. To avoid these lines eat an early breakfast, early lunch, or late dinner.
Columbia Harbour House'ss menu offers the most variety within the Magic Kingdom. Beyond these, the Magic Kingdom’s fast-food eateries are undistinguished, not to mention about twice as expensive as McDonald’s, for about the same quality. On the positive side, portions are large, sometimes large enough for children to share.
Be Our Guest is one of the most popular dining establishment in all of Walt Disney World. at popular meal times are often gone close to 60 days in advance.

Take the monorail to one of the hotels for lunch. The trip takes very little time, and because most guests have left the hotels for the parks, the resorts’ restaurants are often uncrowded. The food is better than the Magic Kingdom’s, the service is faster, the atmosphere is more relaxed, and mixed drinks are available.

If you're dining in a table service restaurant in Magic Kingdom and cost is an issue, make lunch your main meal. Entrees are similar to those on the dinner menu, but prices might be lower.

Food carts can be found around the Magic Kingdom. They typically sell everything from ice cream novelties to corn dogs, popcorn, and egg rolls.

Of the park's seven full-service restaurants, Liberty Tree Tavern in Liberty Square is the best, followed by Be Our Guest (lunch and dinner) in Fantasyland and The Plaza Restaurant on Main Street. Skipper Canteen is above average. Cinderella’s Royal Table in the castle and The Crystal Palace on Main Street serve a decent but expensive character buffet. Avoid Tony’s Town Square Restaurant on Main Street.
A frequent area of confusion for Disney guests is the topic of tipping at Magic Kingdom. See our page dedicated to everything you need to know about tipping at Walt Disney World.

Food Carts

Food carts come and go in Magic Kingdom, but in most lands you'll be able to find bottled beverages, popcorn, and ice cream novelties. Special items include turkey legs (Frontierland), churros, and egg rolls (Adventureland). Don't worry, you're never far from a food cart in Magic Kingdom. While these carts move from time to time (that's why they have wheels), we do try to keep up with them on our comprehensive list of Magic Kingdom food spots.
