Description And Comments
Maku and Puihi mean “wet” and “wild,” respectively, in the fictional Waturi language, making this pair of group raft slides a subtle tribute to Volcano Bay’s predecessor. North America’s first “saucer ride,” the six-person Maku round raft plunges riders through bowl-like formations that are surrounded by erupting geysers before ending in a pool. Unfortunately, the advertised fountains usually fail to deliver on the slide’s name, making it one of the park’s bigger busts. On the plus side, there’s rarely a long wait for Maku, and the tower it shares with Puihi has one of the park’s only elevators, for those unable to climb stairs.
