Zootopia: Better Zoogether is a 3-D film shown in a theater inside the Tree of Life, Animal Kingdom's icon. The attraction opened to coincide with the premier of Zootopia 2, the second movie in the Zootopia franchise. The timing could not have been better: Soon after release Zootopia 2 became the second highest-grossing animated film of all time.

The sequel's popularity alone would've garnered crowds to any attraction based on it. Disney added 3D, fast pacing, and kid-friendly special effects. Throw in a chance to sit in blessed air conditioning for a few minutes inside a unique theater, and you've got a real hit.

The film's premise is that all of the animals in Zootopia are coming together to celebrate Zoogether Day. Policewoman Judy Hopps hears that someone is trying to disrupt the celebration and must discover (and stop) the perpitrator before it happens.

Judy's investigation is shown as a set of short clips. Each segment takes her and partner Nick Wilde to one neighborhood in Zootopia, where they question the residents about anything unusual they've seen.

There's a joke or visual gag at every point in their journey, including one with a walrus with an in-theater water effect that goes from cute to gratuitous to hilarious the longer you get sprayed. (You're not drenched in the way you'd be on a water-based ride. But the misting effect goes on for so long that you have time to process that entire spectrum of emotions.) Kids love it.

Judy and Nick eventually catch the perp and Zoogether Day is saved.

Better Zoogether is a big improvement over the not-kid-friendly 3D film that was previously here. We think everyone should see it.
