Summary

If you’re not sure where to eat in Disney Springs, go to The Boathouse. Consistently good quality, especially with fresh seafood, made this restaurant the No. 2 highest-grossing independent restaurant in the United States in 2019 (Carmine’s in Times Square was No. 1). The restaurant does enough volume that it has proprietary lines of oysters and rib eyes. While seafood is the star, the steaks are top-notch as well. Hop a ride in an Amphicar ($125 per car). Along with Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, it has the best service in Disney Springs.

A North Carolina family advises readers to save room—lots of room— for dessert:

By far the best meal was at The Boathouse in Disney Springs. Everyone’s meal was superb—we all ordered seafood entrées. We had a mile-high ice-cream dessert designed to serve two. It was delicious and easily served all four of us.

Setting and Atmosphere

The first things you notice about The Boathouse, on the waterfront at Disney Springs, are the vintage American Amphicars (amphibious autos produced in the 1960s) and the Italian water taxis floating next to the front door—a multimillion-dollar fleet of 19 rare boats from private collectors, museums, and boat shows around the world. The airy restaurant seats up to 600 in nautically themed dining rooms (two private), as well as outdoors. The three bars include one built over the water and attached to more than 300 feet of boardwalk and docks.

House Specialties

The menu changes daily, but there’s seafood of every sort: a raw bar with fresh oysters, tuna, and wild-caught shrimp; lobster; fish and shellfish, including Florida seasonal varieties; and jumbo lump crab cake. There’s also filet mignon, as well as ice-cream pie for dessert.

Amphicar Tours

An Amphicar is a car that can drive on land and water. They were produced in the 1960s, and The BOATHOUSE has purchased several from private collections. Up to three people can climb in at the BOATHOUSE landing for a 25 minute tour of the lake for $125. Reservations are made on a walk-up basis at the BOATIQUE (the gift shop). $25 vouchers toward an Amphicar tour are available with food or merchandise purchases at The BOATHOUSE of $50 or more.

The Venezia

If you're looking for something more than the Amphicar, The BOATHOUSE also offers the Venezia, a 40-foot water taxi that can host your group of up to 16 for a champagne or wine-tasting cruise.

Venezia pricing:

  • 30-minute Champagne Cruise $75/person $50 for a child under 13)
  • 60-minute Champagne Cruise $115/person $75 for a child under 13)
  • 60 minute wine-tasting cruise $225/couple, $125/single plus service

Reservations (407-939-2628) are required for the Venezia, though walk-up discounts may be available if the boat isn't in use. The BOATHOUSE can work with you to create a custom experience with private dining on your Venezia cruise.

Other Recommendations

The "AmphiBar" in the front of the restaurant (open most days, after 4PM) is clever and fun. It's a good place to grab a drink either before your meal or as you pass by. The BOATHOUSE has the only oyster bar in Disney Springs, with a good selection of mollusks, shrimp, and crab.
