Summary
Local owners of The Ravenous Pig bring their Florida twist on barbecue, beer, and bourbon to Disney Springs. This fast-casual quick service location merges counter service ordering with table-service delivery, leaving you plenty of time to sample the wide variety of self-serve house-made barbecue sauces in preparation for your meal..
Setting and Atmosphere
Located adjacent to Disney Springs’ Lime Garage, Polite Pig entices diners with the signature smoked meat smell as soon as they enter the shopping district. Inside, the restaurant is fairly sparse in decoration, with only a few reminders of the titular animal on the walls and brass pig’s feet sprinkled throughout the restaurant’s floor. The true star of the show, both inside and outside, is the restaurant’s signature Bourbon Bar, which serves a variety of moderate to high-end whiskeys and bourbons, as well as cocktails and wines served on tap, batch-made fresh daily.
The recently-renovated outdoor patio features ample covered seating, a must in Florida weather (with heaters often placed outside during “true winter”. Servers will deliver your food to any table, inside or out, as well as at the bar, where the full menu is available. Once seated, servers will provide silverware and are more than happy to guide you through the ample sauce selection (the black pepper and mustard sauces are especially good), as well as provide drink refills and an order of dessert.
House Specialties
The smoked meat-heavy menu shines best when sticking to the basics: the meat entrees are almost always your best bet here over a sandwich option, for value and best flavor. Barbecue staples like brisket and ribs anchor the menu, but the citrus marinated half chicken and the house-made BBQ cheddar sausage with bourbon glaze showcase the kitchen’s true skill at balancing sweet, heat, and savory in every bite.
Fresh, local produce reign in the side dishes, with the BBQ cauliflower with paprika sour cream, roast beets with goat cheese and orange, southern potato salad, and whisky-caramel-kissed brussels sprouts far surpassing the less-than-stellar staples like the mac and cheese and grilled corn.
Other Recommendations
Salad options are pricy but enough for two adults here, and can be jazzed up with any range of smoked meat options for a more filling meal. The burnt end BBQ meatballs served atop cheese grits could go toe-to-toe with any signature dining appetizer at Walt Disney World for depth of flavor. Be sure to grab a slice of orange blossom pie, or sample the behemoth half-pound locally-made Gideon’s Bakehouse signature chocolate chip cookies, one of Polite Pig’s best sellers (selling out every day, even with a per guest limit in place).
Mobile Ordering
The Polite Pig offers mobile ordering, but not through the Disney app. Visit this website to pre-order your meal.
