At the intersection of R St and 30th St you will find yourself standing if front of the impressive brick gatehouse of Oak Hill Cemetery, the historic 22 acre resting place of many Civil War-era government officials. Founded in 1848, Oak Hill Cemetery contains many magnificent mausoleums and monuments as well as a historic chapel. It is open weekdays from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Sundays and holidays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
