Description And Comments
Disney has run two nighttime spectaculars over the past decade: a show called Wishes and a show called Happily Ever After. Both were multisensory shows of fireworks, music, and video projections. Both ranked among the highest rated attractions in Walt Disney World, across all age groups. It’s hard to overstate just how elaborate and impressive these shows are in person. Disney’s latest show, which opened in 2021, is called Disney Enchantment.
Enchantment's appeal is its images projected onto Cinderella Castle, with snippets from the usual suspects of Frozen and Cinderella, as well as scenes from Moana, Princess and the Frog, The Hunchback of Notre Dame; Monsters, Inc.; Cars; and Soul, and Disney classics such as Peter Pan among others. New for this show is the extension of projection images down Main Street, U.S.A., allowing more guests to see these fantastic animations.
Enchantment’s fireworks can be enjoyed from outside the park, but with the projections so tightly integrated into the performance, be aware that you’ll miss a substantial portion of the show if you’re not viewing from the Main Street area inside the Magic Kingdom.
As we went to press, Enchantment was rated substantially lower by readers than any Magic Kingdom nighttime show of the past 20 years. It's not hard to see why: the soundtrack's pacing is sometimes slow, and the show's song, You Are the Magic, manages to sound like every recent Disney and Katy Perry song at the same time. We're not kidding, if the writers of Ms. Perry's song Firework aren't getting royalties from Disney for YAtM, they should seek legal advice.
Touring Tips
Sit as close to the castle as possible for the best visuals. Views and audio from the extra-cost dessert party at Tomorrowland Terrace are worse that what you get in the central hub, the only advantage to the dessert party is you get to sit down in actual chairs.
