What should you know?

A major renovation gave this Patina–Joachim Splichal venture a big boost to its outdoor dining and bar area, along with some appreciated tweaks to its extensive but somewhat uninspired menu. The kids will enjoy the colorful decor and activities; adults can get a good glass of wine or a cocktail and feed the entire crew for less than $100.

What’s it like inside?

Food aside, this is a really fun restaurant: modern, colorful, and spacious, with tile floors, an open demonstration kitchen, and whimsical design touches that mirror nearby Disneyland. It’s also noisy and crowded, typically filled with families. During peak hours, it’s difficult to hear yourself think, let alone carry on a meaningful conversation. Nonetheless, it’s a great gathering place, and there’s something to appeal to everyone from small children to adults.

What are the specialties?

Wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas: thin, crispy crusts with a hearty, almost spicy red sauce; handmade mozzarella cheese; and fresh toppings of choice.
