\r\nBuilt in 1983, Tokyo Disneyland is the first Disney theme park to open outside of the United States. Tokyo Disneyland, along with its neighbor Tokyo DisneySea and the rest of Tokyo Disney Resort's hotels, shops, and so on, are owned and operated by Oriental Land Company. But fear not, Tokyo Disneyland is just as high quality, spectacular, and dare we say it... magical, as the other Disney theme parks, even though it isn't actually owned by Disney itself. Both companies refer to it as a partnership. Disney has final approval of the use of its characters, but OLC decides what they want built, and how the resort is managed. Disney gets a cut of merchandise sales and ticket sales; OLC gets what is rumored to be the most profitable Disney theme park on the planet. We like the way Tokyo Disneyland's opening day dedication speech phrased it: \"And may this magical kingdom be an enduring symbol of the spirit of cooperation and friendship between the great nations of Japan and the United States of America.\" \r\n
\r\n\r\nTokyo Disneyland has many of the rides that you know and love from the original Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Classic rides, such as Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, and more can all be found at Tokyo Disneyland. The ride takes place in and around Mount Prometheus, so when your vehicle is not taking you through the depths of the mountain, you’ll be seeing some beautiful views of Mysterious Island. The attraction culminates with an encounter with a huge lava monster that is one of the most impressive animatronics Disney has ever created.
\r\n\r\nOther rides found in DisneySea include some of the most impressive and most technologically advanced attractions in Disney's arsenal. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea takes you deep underwater where you'll explore an ancient civilization and have an encounter with a gigantic squid. In Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull you'll enter an Aztec temple in search of the Fountain of Youth. Sindbad's Storybook Voyage (which we consider to be a modern Disney classic) is boat ride for the whole family featuring a theme written by Disney Legend Alan Menken. DisneySea's Tower of Terror is not based on The Twilight Zone like it is in Walt Disney World. It features a completely original story line where you tour an elaborate hotel from the 1920s that has been cursed by an idol named Shiriki Utundu.
\r\n\r\nAs with Tokyo Disneyland, shows and live entertainment are a huge part of DisneySea's appeal. The marquee show of all of Tokyo Disney Resort is Big Band Beat, located in the Broadway Music Theatre in American Waterfront. This Broadway-style revue features live singers and dancers, as well as Disney characters, performing classic jazz and big band songs. We highly recommend it, even for those of you who are not normally in to Disney stage shows. It's one of the best Disney shows you'll ever see.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTokyo DisneySea is located a short Disney Resort Line trip away from Tokyo Disneyland and/or the JR Maihama Station. Just hop on the Disney Resort Line monorail, and wait until you hear the announcements, or read the signs inside the cabin (both of which will be in English, as well as Japanese).

\r\n\r\nDisney Ambassador Hotel has three full-service restaurants, one quick service restaurant, and one lounge. If none of these establishments meet your needs, you can take a short walk to Ikspari and eat at any one of its' restaurants of varying quality and price ranges.\r\n
\r\n\r\nChef Mickey is a buffet where Mickey Mouse and other characters visit guests at their tables as they dine. The buffet serves everything from meat dishes, noodles, curry, fish, salads, fresh fruit, and more. There’s also a large variety of delicious desserts. Besides your stomach, the only other limit is time. Each party is given 90 minutes to finish their meal. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available, but breakfast is only available for guests of Disney Ambassador Hotel. \r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nEmpire Grill offers Italian, Mexican, and Asian-inspired cuisine. It's pricey (around $40 to $60 USD per plate) but Empire Grill is perfect if you're looking for a fine dining experience.
\r\n\r\n\r\nHana's menu includes delicious teppan-yaki dishes. Here you can enjoy breakfast (buffet style), lunch, or dinner.
\r\n\r\n\r\nTick Tock Diner sells sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers, and pastries. Here you can enjoy lunch, or dinner. It's a perfect place to grab a quick meal.
\r\n\r\n\r\nHyperion Lounge is located near Disney Ambassador Hotel's lobby. Here you can enjoy drinks or a full meal during breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDisney Ambassador Hotel's gift shop is Festival Disney\r\n and sits just off the lobby. \r\n\r\nAs you'd expect from a Disney gift shop, Festival Disney has a decent\r\ncollection of souvenirs ranging from small trinkets (such as keychains and \r\n\r\npens) to shirts and Disney princess items. Prices for these \r\n\r\nitems are what you'd pay in the theme parks. Festival Disney also offers the mega popular Tokyo Disney-branded cookies, chocolate, coffee tins, and similar items.\r\n
\r\n\r\nSunset Sundries sells snacks, drinks, and basic pharmacy items such as aspirin, and cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. Sunset Sundries is a good place to grab some quick snacks, or to buy some items you may have forgotten at home.
\r\n\r\n\r\nTokyo Disney Celebration Hotel is Tokyo Disney Resort's \"value\" hotel option. It's less expensive and much less extravagantly themed than Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta, and Disney Ambassador Hotel. Even though Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel is owned and operated by Tokyo Disney Resort, the hotel is located offsite. Walking to the parks isn't impossible; it would just take over an hour and a half. Instead, Celebration Hotel offers free shuttle buses that take about 15 minutes to reach the parks. With all that being said, the rooms are basic but nice, and the service is excellent. If they're cheaper, our recommendation is to try and stay at one of the non-Disney owned on-site hotels (we recommend the Hilton or Sheraton) that have easy access to Tokyo Disney Resort Line's Bayside Station. We found the menu to be surprisingly sophisticated with items like Grilled Beef Cheek, and Sauteed Golden Thread with Shiitake and Kuji Scallion Broth. It's pricey (around $40 to $60 USD per a plate) but CANNA is perfect if you're looking for a fine dining experience.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTokyo Disneyland Hotel's gift shop is Disney Mercantile\r\n and sits just off the lobby. \r\n\r\nAs you'd expect from a Disney gift shop, Disney Mercantile has a decent\r\ncollection of souvenirs ranging from small trinkets such as keychains and \r\n\r\npens, to shirts and Disney princess items. Prices for these \r\n\r\nitems are what you'd pay in the theme parks. Disney Mercantile also offers the mega popular Tokyo Disney-branded cookies, chocolate, coffee tins, and similar items.\r\n
\r\n\r\n\r\nLooking Glass Gifts sells snacks, drinks, and basic pharmacy items such as aspirin, cold medicine, baby diapers and formula, shampoo, and the like. Looking Glass Gifts is a good place to grab some quick snacks, or to buy some items you may have forgotten at home. \r\n
\r\n\r\nTokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta sits near the front entrance of the Tokyo DisneySea theme park. The hotel is sometimes marketed as the only Disney hotel in the world that sits entirely inside a Disney park. While that's not exactly true (the hotel's main entrance is not located inside DisneySea), we'll give them a pass because the majority of the hotel is located inside DisneySea. The exterior is heavily themed after Portofino in Italy. MiraCosta is hands down the most extravagantly themed Disney hotel in the world. Its luxurious guest rooms also have an Italian theme with some rooms featuring Disney character constellations on the ceiling, and murals of DisneySea's Mediterranean Harbor on the walls. Other rooms feature ornate Venetian designs. Walking time to Tokyo DisneySea is only a few minutes thanks to an entrance to the park located just outside of the lobby. The Tokyo Disney Resort Line - Tokyo DisneySea Station (aka the monorail), is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The Tokyo Disney Resort Line offers transportation to Tokyo Disneyland, Ikspiari and the JR Maihama Station (where you can catch a train to the city), and Bayside Station (where all non-Disney on-site hotels are located). \r\n

\r\nRack rates for MiraCosta range from around $500 USD for standard view rooms, to more than $3000 USD for a suite. Since Hotel MiraCosta is inside DisneySea, any room you reserve that promises a theme park view will offer an incredible vantage of the park.
\r\n\r\nThe official Tokyo Disney Resort hotels can be booked on the Tokyo Disney Resort Online Reservation & Tickets website, which is in full English. Please note that the official TDR hotels sell out extremely fast, sometimes as soon as the reservation window opens, which is 9 AM (JST), five months before your arrival date. When your reservation window opens, be ready and waiting at your computer.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHappy Entry tickets are given to Hotel MiraCosta guests when they purchase park tickets from the hotel.\r\n
\r\nGuests at Hotel MiraCosta can enjoy a perk called \"Happy Entry.\" This allows hotel guests to enter either Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea 15 minutes early. Few attractions are open during this time, but it allows you to skip the massive lines that form outside the parks before they open for the day. It will also let you get a huge head start to your first destination. If you want to ride Journey to the Center of the Earth in DisneySea (or any other high demand attraction) with little to no wait, Happy Entry will give you a perfect chance to do so.
\r\n\r\nGuests staying at any of the official Tokyo Disney Resort hotels are given free tickets to use the Disney Resort Line that are valid for the length of their stay. Hotel guests are also guaranteed entry to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, even on days when the parks are extremely busy and attendance is restricted. Hotel MiraCosta also has an exclusive entrance from hotel guests. Located just off of the lobby, this entrance allows hotel guests to skip the long line at the main entrance that form before the park opens for the day.

\r\nRoom amenities include HDTV, mini-refrigerators, hot water pot (with instant coffee and tea), safes large enough for laptops, and wireless Internet connections. In your room's bathroom you'll find shampoo, soap, and conditioner in nicely themed bottles that you're allowed to keep after you check out, as well as a toiletry accessory kit containing toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair comb, cotton swabs, and more. The nightstand between the two beds has a telephone and alarm clock. Rooms also contain a closet with hangers, an iron with ironing board, and enough room to store a few pieces of luggage.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMiraCosta bathrooms are made up of three parts, each of which are separated by doors that lock. To the left is a shower room with a bathtub, and both fixed and removable shower heads. The center is a sink area with a mirror, one sink, and limited counter space. To the right is a small room with a toilet. The toilet is a luxurious Japanese bidet that features heated seats and a stream of warm water to clean your rear end. If you don't wish to use any of these extra bidet features, you can simply flush it with the lever attached to the toilet itself. If you do want to try out the bidet, it's controlled by a panel with buttons.

The indoor pool, spa, and fitness room hours are 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM from early-July to mid-September, and 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM during the rest of the year. To use the pools, fitness room, and spa during the summer months there is a fee of ￥3,000 per a day for ages 12 and up and ￥1,500 for ages 4 to 11. During non-summer months the fee is ￥2,000 per a day for ages 12 and up and ￥1,000 for ages 4 to 11. The following pool rules are strictly enforced, especially the rule about covering tattoos:
