Duffy is a phenomenon in Japan. He's a mega popular Disney character that has not appeared in any movies, cartoons, comic books, or video games. Foreigners may find this inexplicable, but when you're walking around DisneySea, and you see 4 out of 5 people with some kind of Duffy merchandise, it somehow starts to make sense. Located in the Cape Cod section of American Waterfront, My Friend Duffy is Duffy's stage show starring him and all of his friends. So popular is his stage show, that to view the show you must purchase food from Cape Cod Cook-Off, which is the restaurant and venue where it is performed. My Friend Duffy can best be described as a fever dream. Duffy is very lonely. So Minnie decides to help him out and make a friend for him. In one of the strangest scenes we've seen in a Disney stage show, Minnie concocts ShellieMay (a girl version of Duffy), complete with smoke and lighting effects. She then stumbles out on stage, almost like Minnie created some sort of monster. Duffy and ShellieMay live happily ever after, or something. Needles to say, people love it, and because of that Cape Cod Cook-off is one of DisneySea's most popular restaurants.
