Description And Comments

The Bourne Stuntacular is the latest theme park show whose story is built around stunt work. It's also one of the best stage shows of any kind in Orlando.

Like the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Bourne Stuntacular combines live actors and elaborate props, with special effects and music. Bourne goes one step further and uses massive digital background screen to place the audience in locations around the world. At over 3,600 square feet, the screen is bigger than the average American home. It's also a game-changer for these kinds of live shows, because once you've seen the effects that can be accomplished with it, you'll never look at other shows the same way again.

For example, during one fight scene, Bourne is chased into a prop built to look like two-story tower, which is rolled onto the center of the stage. As Bourne climbs out of the tower, the entire prop starts rotating and rising toward the ceiling, simulating a camera angle that's also rotating and dropping. And while the building is rotating, the scenery on the screen behind the prop is also rotating. You'll be astonished to see it done live.

The only criticism we can make about the show is that it's difficult to believe that that many villains with automatic weapons can't shoot accurately enough to even graze a relatively slow-moving Jason Bourne. Even so, this is one of the best stage shows in Orlando, and a must-see while you're in Universal Studios Florida.

Touring Tips

The first couple of shows of the day are not usually crowded.

Special Comments

  • We rate this attraction as Not To Be Missed.
  • This attraction may be frightening for children.

You don't have to have seen the films in order for the show to make sense: it's the usual government-spy-uncovers-insider-treachery story, set in far-flung locations around the world.

The show's effects include loud, simulated gunfire.
